thredbo are calling 15cm
Buller calling 5cm with a refreshingly honestly worded report. Interestingly the moisture has kept filling the BoM can overnight but it doesn't seem to have actually been snowing much based on the cams.
A lot of wind out there though. Exposed reaches will only have a few cms on it.
That's the other interesting observation. 120kph gusts yesterday, then literally dead calm since 130am based on the BoM wind obs.
About 10-15cm on the ground here at smiggins, looking very nice and white.
Wind doesn’t seem to bad at this stage either.
Photos of course
Most stations still registering 25-30 knot gusts.
So about 32mm of precip all up at Perisher, with around half of it being clear. Yr.No was pretty consistently forecasting something in that ballpark from as far back as 7 days ago, whilst others were frothing over big numbers...
Interestingly higher than OCF, but I have noticed that seems to be a trend in NSW alps and the human forecast by the BOM tends to be higher.
Still registering small amounts at Perisher too.
Appears to be pretty windy now^^
Gonna be a windy day
Photos of the now light
Some before and after pics
Just a slight dusting for LM Temp didn't drop below 0 until about midnight, and no precipitation until 4am. So, hardly anything.
Shaping up for a shit year.
Falls Ck doenot appear to have received very much snow during the hyper period?
And the kids have slept in at Bulla ?
Snowing nicely in Thredbo 5cm on the ground in the village
That's what I'm feeling
it's #stilljune mofos...
They’re all awake now.
Snowing lightly again
by a fingernail...
...And only 1 week since 'official winter' (winter solstice).
...by a fingernail.
Very fine snow still being blown into your face here at Perisher. Most lifts on wind hold. Visually (from the comforts of the cafe now) it looks to be easing.
I love it when people really understand when winter starts
All the chairs except Village 8 are on wind hold at PV so far.
Falls reporting 12cm overnight according to socials. The table at Cedarwood would seem to corroborate that.
No lifts running at Buller yet.
Had a couple of sneaky runs through the trees left of Mitchell tbar PV before dropping off kids. Nice stashes 15-20cm.
Still blowing snow and crowded.
Snow down to waste point I'd say.
Snow from sawpit creek this morning. Few laps of front valley, was nice before it became a circus
Lots on windhold.
Glad I decided not to go up
So Perisher turned negative with precipitation at 15mm. Now 35mm down. I'm calling 15cm of snow from my experience of mm to cm conversion. Not a bad effort.
Yeah I think that was well predicted.
Good job everybody for the predictions and the observations
Perisher just emailed confirming 15cm.
5cm reported by Baw Baw

12cm reported by Falls
Thredbo - all lifts running
Ranged to get first tracks and was pretty amazing. All chopped up now. Not so busy.
Lightly snowing in the village now.
Windy AF top of kosi lift and Icey sketchy
15cm seems about right from mid station
It’s raining at level 2 windshield wipers about 15km out of Myrtleford.
Also. This bus ride will never end.
Yep car park was half full at 8am, big line of cars driving up.
Left the Thredbo about 45 mins ago,
Kosi was on wind hold and cruiser I think.
Caught snow gums up and was brutal. Must have been 100km winds and sustained.
Snow wind scoured and Icey.
I see the meter is still ticking over slowly at perisher. How much is actually new precipitation versus wind blown leftovers from last night?
Gusting to 80-90 km/h. God chance of some windblown, but only marginal ticking over with the AWS registering only 1mm since 9am.
Dead timber hill possibly the most windy location in the world this morning. Snow was nice and dry. Nice morning stroll; even at the expense of my bases
~20,000 strikes through interior NSW/Vic last night.
Interesting, as virtually no obs came through this thread about it. Looks like it fell apart prior to hitting the GDR.
Also a report of either a severe micro burst or Tornado @ Axe Creek, Vic last night too
Up to the lable at buller
Wind scour and brutal winds story the day at Thredbo. Thought at first some nice filling in should happen through day but the scour instead slowly moved down slope as the hours passed.
Nice snow though when you found it.
Weather has moderated in Melb now much milder....still a bit but
No Team Bears picnic table there!Phew!
Winds finally easing at Island Bend and lifts starting to open at Blue Cow, though it looks like visibility would be average up high. Perhaps some light snow in that cloud as well?
Every single year
