Bubbling away south of WA/SA border now. Albany touched 5C overnight with passing showers still registering this morning. Soundings this morning should suggest snow overnight on Bluff Knoll IMO.
Not a cloud to be seen with light winds here in Adelaide this morning. Has a bit of a summery feel to it.
I hit the mtb tracks last night. It was wet and boggy but a shedload better than it'll be for the next week or so.
I always ride through man, I got to some of the trail build days so I know how frustrating it is when people dont. Plus, mud looks cool and makes you look tough. Seriously though, I pick and choose which trails I ride when it's wet and avoid the really crappy ones.
Someone might be able to post the sat pic. The beast in the bite is very impressive. Adelaide is about to get smashed
Bears say its rotating in a ferocious fashion Darbian in intensity.. again remarkable pic... certainly a big angry blob....
Rain and thunderstorms in Adelaide at the moment. I do not like! Very dark and hoping the power doesn't go out. BOM calling it a cyclone http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-09-...her:-cyclone-and-flood-watch-expected/7883104
I've seen a few solid bolts out of my window in the Adelaide cbd. Seemed to be short lived. This isn't the main band. Better stuff should hit later.
Sure is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold-core_low ..And what Adelaide is experiencing is not even part of the 'core'.
is that another low over Tasman/NZ hopefully there is no chance of this being drawn back to Aust SE to form an Off Coast Low System...
CC from what we are observing now ...is there any further upgrade on potential for rainfall or are things unfolding as expected...just curious if rainfall predictions are still holding from previous posts of yesterday??
Re WA and possible snow. Nearest observations indicate it is a possibility, given it's 8 degrees at 240m asl. With one degree for every hundred meters elevation..... Bluff Knoll at over 1100m...
Looks pretty much on track. Exact amount of precipitation is difficult to call though. I expect substantial numbers through SE South Australia, Western Vic and north of the divide. I think the bigger issue will be the system coming through Sunday night, Monday, catchements will be already over-saturated, and we're going to have a very nasty dynamic at play next week.
Skew-T says almost certainly with FL @ ~950m @9AM this AM for Albany. Given the uppers, maybe snow down to 800m on mountain.
