Wow! Spring pow. I've just got back in, absolutely saturated (time for new pants methinks). Still coming down steadily in Falls.
Still strong vorticity aloft its just a much broader low now, strongest cell is over south tassie atm. This is a good link to look @ the changes past 24 hrs. http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/windgridmain.php?&basin=austeast&sat=wgms
Sorry Perisher would have had around 25 this morning on Mt Pas Sniggins had 15 and was well covered,..
Hats off to you Tradies up there. This boy gone soft in his old age. I observe 10 degs (on the Coast) is the new zero , but working in it and playing in it are two different things.
Just got to Jindy. No dramas on Alpine Way, snow on road over DHG but has been ploughed, sleet at Thredbo village level.
A bit of snow passsing over Hotham... Are TRs allowed in observation threads or just for resort threads?
Fair enough.... I woke up at 6am exactly to 20cm of fresh outside. Got out at 6:40am and skied every glade in HV Met wife and kids in HV at 9am and skied til 11:30am in the trees (Meanwhile nature was busy dumping the soft snow I craved) I noticed a lack of thickness to fresh and also saw snowmobiles in HV Decided to go back up the hill to get my and the kids avy gear Skinned to top of Mary's Slide and made two of the best runs this season with the kids . Wife came back out with sandwiches and we had lunch next to Keoghs chair. We all skinned across the road to Avy Gully by 2pm There were some great lines in there too Went home at 4pm, very happy..... Come up if you can, freshies still everywhere ... Going for a trip out the Razorback with the kids tomorrow, should be fun. Anyone out over there? Stay safe otherwise!
Sounds like a great day. Our kids a bit too young for that, although getting them rapidly up to speed and we did have a very nice ski tour to JBs and beyond today. Intervals of stellar light amongst snowfalls.
Of all the days this season, today is probably the one I'm most jealous about! Good on all you lot. Ah well, had a surf at least.
Just arrived Jindy from Syd... Lots of rain around lake george, can't wait to see her on monday. Very quiet trip except for the wind which ended about canberra.
Thredbo yesterday was mixed in the village with a mix of rain and snow over a few hours from about 10am on. Drove to DHG with the kids where it really started to come down. Temp on car saying 2 degrees. Spoke to a guy who did the run down and said top was very low vis and good turns. Lower down lots of snags and heavy.
Bit of a marginal day out there folks - temps hovering around zero and moist. Stay away from edges of buildings - lots of snow shedding from roofs made all the heavier with the extra moisture.
At falls, observe r#%* A lot of water over start of snow road, wouldn't want to get any higher.. Hope this weather clears!
At Falls Creek - what a difference a day makes. Great day yesterday however lots of rain overnight turned the powder into glue - very slow going and not much fun. Rain not looking like easing up, so gave up.
Sounds like it's gonna fine up around 2:30pm this arvo. I tried booking a 2 hour private with a few of the instructors. They're all busy! Is there any reason??? I sure hope the lifties are still working
Went for a scratch yesterday around Hotham and thought humidity too high. Didn't miss much folks imo.
Stopped for lunch, after 6 hours of skinning the Razorback. A bit of snow at 6am, rain after 8:30am... A sticky cover thanks to the rain but the boys have smiles on their faces, so I am happy
