Yeah I am going up almost to feel what these deep southern ocean polar lows are like.
Only 5cm of fresh on ground at Hotham
On the plus side, winds have subsided.
Watching status of Snow Road, Myrtleford (flooding reported by VicRoads in area)
Only of concern if you are taking Harrietville approach (probably 1% of people in here)
Just light snow showers ATM.
Take care and stay safe.
Not far off EC/YrNa/Jane's progg.
If it could just stall there the alps will be in business. The sat pic looks to be filling in around the western NSW/VIC border on the national radar loop. Looking good for a bit later.
My missus just ran is yelling it's sleeting..! And yep, can confirm tiny sleet!
Second time this year, wtf?!?
Although this wind is "next level" cold!
Irymple South. Vic
Wow this is bloody cold
Light snow showers at Hotham now...
Radar looks good.
Filling in nicely ... Quite N direction
Some hardy souls out earning turns at Hotham now.
That wind has some real bite to it! Also from Mildura area.
Pressure down to 988 hPa in Melbourne.
Like me.... I only saw 1 person out though
under the top of the village chair. hardly seems worth it.
I saw five more just then... 5cm of fresh, but crap underneath that. Need at least 30cm for good skiing IMO
1013hPa or 101.3 kPa for 20th century students. But the watered down value is 100 kPa for 21st century Physics students. The Maths was deemed too hard!!!!!!!!.... W
Snowing at Dingo Dell Mt. Buffalo so some chance for Hotham and Falls to get a bit.
is the centre of this rotating feature(low) just to Melbs west approx... looks like Tasmania is getting worked over at the same time the other side of this feature is coming back over Adelaide to give it more excitement..Looks like centre is off coast around Lornish....?
I think you can almost see 3 centers.
Absolutely bucketing down here in Mildura with small hail
From my memory of HSC Chemistry (a long time ago) it's 101325 Pa or 101.325kPa
Observing a big line of rain coming across the bay in Melbourne atm. Very dark skies.
sky is about to fall in Chelt by the looksies out thewindow
Lots of tobogganers around Hotham, few attempting the ski as of yet.
And like that it has gone again. Showers streaming down though on and off.
Wish me luck, flight to Perth this evening at 6:50pm. Hopefully it will not be too turbulent.
I wish South Perisher was time stamped. Looks like flakes on the valley view other view looks sodden.
I observe Wang only needs another 4mm overnight to break their all time September record. Yes it has been wet north of the divide.
Had everything this afternoon at Perisher. Wet snow, sago and then when we left at about 3.45 it started hammering down. Stopped by Wilsons Valley (1440m). Was starting to settle. 6 degrees where we are staying.
Good luck with that.
Coldies from the north.
Minus "lake effect" from the bay.
more footage of yesterdays tornado...
warning Strong language .. he got a bit excited!!
Is that the Benalla side of Glenrowan heading south on the Hume?
I was thinking the same thing mate. Ive been down there before and it looks the same as the rotating lows between 50 and 60S but this one is further north lol. Worst one ive been in lasted a week and 23m seas.
No better person to call than your carefree Dad who doesn't even wish you a safe return from Tornado chasing. bahaha. The banter was more interesting than the mesocyclone.
Sheep graziers warning extended for most NSW/VIC areas. More to come I guess.
Solid Flakage @Buller a coupla hours ago.
How's the fresh looking now?
Observed sun streaming into our partially constructed Art Studio, 20 minutes after solid downpour- Newcastle. Oh and thats not really a wine bottle.
Skinned up the Ramble, down Shadow Ridge, back up, then down the Y's this arvo at Falls (apparently they shut lifts this morning due to winds). Snow down Shadow and the top of Y's was 10-15cm deep, and well......skiable.....wind was calmish and viz good enough. Started snowing again at 4 when we left, and has mostly kept raining since in Mt Beauty. Hoping for better tomorrow
I observe I'm only leaving work now, not gonna make it up for hunt for white October. Damn conference calls to Europe...
Not exactly any new pow until now just starting to light snow. 5cm still
Don't think you're gonna be missing much TBH.
Comin' down at Perisher now (will not update). #straw
But what's that in feet and grinches?
Crikey, he's painful
Update from the kayakers - "Ended up doing some munyang laps (from guthega power station to island bend), the last one while it was snowing which was interesting. Hopefully it gets a bit warmer soon"
A bit warmer, you don't say.
