IMHO, I don't think there were many genuine 'supercells' out there today. The media certainly blew it up that way. What's with the super-cell potential today, 500hPa winds don't seem too extreme. But it think its more the shear with winds at 500hPa being quicker than 300hPa. Welcome any insight.
TBH, I wasn't far from jumping on the bandwagon but tornado touchdown is uber critical for the fastidious. Funnels are relatively commonplace, otherwise.I recon you'd struggle to find any better footage of a tornado in Aus. Definitely one for the archives. Storm porn for Aus.
Happy to be wrong
This GFS sounding is sampled from 4pm today, circa Beaudesert/Lamington NP (also Kingaroy).I think GFS did a good job yesterday, given it's res against EC & AXS-C.
If we were to side with it again today, Brisbane & Gold Coast region is in for a solid bout of hail.
