SW'ly steering winds are better for Sydney storms as well; less high terrain in the way. The storms can go through the 'Burragorang Gap' somewhat.

Missing pretty much all of it here; the cells are favouring the higher ground.

Snowbound- is that Alfords Point/Illawong?

Went to the supermarket this afternoon. It was sunny when I arrived but raining fairly heavily when I left around 3:30 PM - one of those "weak showers". Chatswood picked up 5 mm mostly between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, with nearby sites in the Northern Beaches hinterland up to 9 mm.

EDIT: Looking at the satellite, the radar and the forecast, I think that this event is pretty much done for Sydney. This afternoon's rain and a few rumbles yesterday and the day before were pretty much all I got. However, with reports of storms and hail, some quite large, over a wide area plus some interesting cloudscapes and even a couple of tornados, it was quite an event for many.

So, I'm a bit late to the photo party, but here's a few shots from the last 2 days.

Yesterday....

And, today......

Despite yesterday's more ominous skies, I largely missed that storm. 1 mm at best as I was right on the edge of the above pics that slid more south east.
I had more rain from today's more benign skies as I scored a direct hit with some pretty heavy rain for a period of time. 4 mm's in the gauge from 25 minutes of steady rain. The surprising thing about the last 3 days of storms is the lack of thunder I have heard. A few rumbles here and there but nothing outstanding

Anyway, it's been a great start to the storm season. 3 days of storms that have impacted such a large area of eastern Oz, and it began with a pretty intense hail storm on Thursday night for me. Nice!
Let's hope it continues and everyone stays safe and property damage is limited. It's great to have storms to enjoy but we can all do without the carnage that sometimes comes with them. And, no more tornados please.

I think it is all but finished here now. Actually a pretty solid rain event in this area with 36.6mm all up in the last few days at Bellambi.

Another good drop for the garden just now. Looks like the lawn will need a mow.
