Melb. temp dropped 4c in an hour, should be nice and cold for B.B. and Buller when it gets there.
Snow eased up at Perisher about 40 minutes ago. I’d say 5cms accumulation maybe, in non wind affected spots. Wind also eased up at about 1pm and many of the crowds vanished.... smiggins has actually been skiing nicely since lunch time! Some really interesting lines in the trees there with few other people around.
Dingo Dell today. MrT should get up there
Going again at Hoth.
Not sure if Aus or BC?!
Nice to see the shrubs burried on the left of cam. That's good gear.
That’s about 30m skiers left of my first run
I observe the grow lights are on at the G with heavy rain
I thank you for inadvertently bringing it to my attention...
I've never seen that. Do they do that everywhere?
HOLD ON! I am coming up there this Friday. Och Laddies and Lassies, I cannae wait!.
I observe the temp dropped 4 degC with passage of cold front at Redesdale in Nth Central Vic this afternoon....
Not quite as bad as it could be but I’ve got a snow clearing berm behind me that will be like concrete.
I'd start now.
CG can cheer you on
Whole ground gets done but northern side that is shadowed by Olympic and members get extra dose. As do high traffic areas.
The only report I can get from my cookie kiddos at Hotham is...
best day ever
pow pow pow
Getting serious now
Stay on topic.
I observe no time to post earlier in the day because powder. I observed about 50cms according to my polometer and that tracks were getting filled in rapidly
I observed 3 hours of phenomenal this morning. I observe that I might be stuck here for longer than I planned, and tomorrow I might just take the advice of others above, ie, go back out skiing, leave vehicle for 2 months. I also observe Mr and Mrs Snowman outside my window at Buller, have sustained significant frostbite since yesterday
Temps rising rapidly with another band approaching Falls Creek.
Also looks like the wind guage is back working
Looks to be snowing quite hard out the window, but with the AWS having risen to 0C.....
We just drove through that in Taralgon, very heavy rain and 10c
That was me this afternoon (not actually me) it took a good 45 mins to extricate my car. Main problem was the packed powder underneath it. Three days of intense NWester packed it in there.
It's hosing it down in Sawmill too. But the clear variety obviously. Kind of keen for it to dry up now the temps have risen.
This year is 1992... Google it
BOM radar shows more precipitation heading for the majors. I wonder if this system has anything significant left? Especially given warming temps. Gotta say i'm looking forward to a bluebird day tomorrow (hopefully).
Ok. It was so good today out, that I don’t have any mid run photos. Too good to stop. Not super light powder but not as heavy as we get use to in Oz. Cold temps certainly helped but by a late lunchtime, temps had stated to rise and the best clean sheets of powder were pretty much tracked out. By me !!! Hotham has been at its best the past three days. Looks like the sun will come out 2mo but it will be warmer. At least we will be able to see. Up top, the light and wind have been super poor biting. But the rewards were in the fill zones or where the N slopes caught the snow. One tree. Spargos. Mary’s. The Chute ! All £€]€#€€} Great. Here are some shots around Hotham village this arvo. That front door photo of our lodge shows how much has fallen. That access is out of action !
That was last updated august 2nd, ie 6 days ago. We have had around 60cm since then. Will be measured tomorrow
Deep creek and 3 Mile Dam measurements are in (see SC thread).
Hence my 1992 call
This snow fall could be bigger than that of 2017...…..For all the days I have XC skied on slush , slop and boiler plate this season I think this dump will make up for it.
This warming trend can eff right off.
Wow what is it?
Had a great ski 2-5hours with Kelpie Boy today at Smiggs , we started skiing together and agreed that the snow was great until the close
A lovely 8.2 in Canberra atm. 17km winds. Diurinal cooling a bit slugish atm. Hump day wine at DSNS bar pit following the same trend
“Diurnal” or “Diurinal”?
A short trip to Mt. Wills yesterday. Snow was dry but not very dense. Followed the snow plough up as it pushed about 20cm (average) off the highway but it would have been passable without it as long as you were first to cut the tracks and had a high clearance 4wd. Good falls down to about 1200m but was snowing at 950m and stuck in the trees. Skis on from the Highway but finding a place to park would be hard if not in a real 4wd.
Looking great this morning with clear skys.
Yup she’s bluebird. Gonna be crunchy.
interesting dip in the Perisher temps at 6am.
Do yourself a favour and check out the FC Drovers live 360cam
It's going to be pretty crispy for a while with the very damp finish to the day and those overnight lows I imagine.
