Surprisingly warm at Ngarigo on the Thredbo river. Must be 5° or so.
I observe that the 100km+ winds at Thredbo will see me heading home early! No point fighting the weekend crowds for the one lift that will be open.

I also observe animals preparing for the weather, with the neighbours ewe with two day old lambs just hanging around the big sheltering tree in the middle of the paddock. Chooks are heading back towards their coop already too.

Just drove out of a warm and windy Thredbo after one of the best weeks we have had there. Bluebird days and very little wind all week. Couldn't believe how well the snow cover held up even at the
bottom of the hill. Alpine way so windy the car was rocking wildly. It feels like something big is on the way.
And I heard it rain a bit overnight but all dry at Thredbo this morning.
I observe that those wind speeds are for gusts, not sustained and you're soft
Nope, gusts are 140km/hr plus.

Snowing @ Buller
We're basically saying the same thing...
Winds are gusting > 100 km/hr
Sustained winds are < 100 km/hr
Currently at Thredbo TS
Sustained winds 65 km/hr
Gusting to 74 km/hr
At 8:54am winds gusted up to 146km/hr which is probably what spooked @zac150
Edit: mind you the winds have only just dropped below 100km/hr in the last couple of hours.
That was a tease. Raining now.
Yeah, I was talking about the winds this morning, which were sustained >100km/hr and using to 140 km/hr.
Hail and sleet now.
Our decision was justified when we checked the wind hold status at Thredbo and only Friday Flat was open.

few wet flakes now Perisher
Skies have cleared at Table Top and wind has started to pick up with a direction change now from the North West. Feels like the typical drying Springtime winds. Great day for drying clothes if you can keep them on the line
On my drive into town (Albury) earlier there was a Mordor view of the Bogong High plains with the dark clouds closing in over the snow. Mobile photos just don't pick up the hills at all unfortunately.

Cold air moving through now.
Proper (a little on the wet side) snow at Buller starting to come down quite heavily.
Blizzard of Oz 3.0 (or whatever they are calling it) starts now!
