Buller is Blessed!!
My preference is still to sleep in the tent when snow camping... it’s a work van so I can’t kit it out like a hippie van. If I had it my way i’d Me camping in the tray of a hilux canopy...
I think that Buller is pretty underestimated by certain circlejerkers around these parts.
Caravan n fridge panel
I think Buller, when top to bottom in gun conditions, like now, is one of Australia's best hills. In average conditions it is unfortunately shite.
Fortunately it’s been good a whole lot this decade.
Praise the Huey!!
Yep, awesome when awesome
You mean Summer Bay is a real place? I thought channel 7 invented it. (/:-/)
Thredbo zacchary same.
Except generally bigger depths, base runouts aside, and none of that weird freezing rain in a westerly thing. Skied Buller twice, has charm
I think this poem applies in equal parts to both of them
There was a little girl, who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.
Was at Buller for the first time in a while last week. It was fun for a short while.. until the crowds arrived. Runs too short , queues too big and that flat spot .. I did ski all sides of the hill.. not sure it’s a “top to bottom” type mountain?
even when Good it’s no Hotham..
meanwhile showers near melb atm ..
I reckon it rained at perisher last night
I observe it still is.
Socked in and a very damp looking snowpack this morning.
"First time" in the nicest possible way there is your problem.
Happy for people to stand in the lift queues.
Once you have done some exploring and know the none trail map mountain Buller is as good (in good conditions) as Hotham.
“In a while” have skied there many times and know the mountain well.. anyway
Then I'm surprised you think that way
Road report was my clue. ...
Stay on Topic.
Rain and fog.
Snowing at Buller
You couldn’t pay me to ski Hotham in a season like this. I like DP and the Hotham BC, but Hotham itself is dramatically overrated and full of people with a massive inferiority complex and their heads firmly entrenched up their asses.
That was fleeting lol, disappeared in the time it took to write the post!
Lol. The Whistler of Australia
3 degrees and drizzle in the Horse Hill car park at Buller. Horrible. Safe to say I wouldn't be up here if I didn't have to be...
Thick fog full of mizzle in Front valley waiting for Mt P to open. Snow skies nice in fat skis so when fog lifts there may well be sweet skiing up higher a little later. Meanwhile coffee is better than mizzle wetting gear.
Told ya it would rain
If u are in lift queues you are skiing the wrong runs!!
Haven't waited in a queue this year, even on weekends
Sorry, off topic...
That’s true but I observe the good stuff even gets busy when it’s really good ..the key is to ski during the week . Lol .. The popular resorts will continue to suffer through lack of expansion and upgrade of infrastructure. I observe that rain then more snow is not a bad thing .. glad to be home today
It’s better than I thought it would be, but it’s still not very good!!!!
The snow is very slow and creamy/glue-y but it’s not that wet in the air, there were signs of clearing skies when I got off HH chair.
Yes, rain has stopped but snow is like porridge!
Some of our local 'experts' were selling today as a pow day earlier in the week. This weekend has looked rubbish for at least 4 days haha.
I observe that tomorrow will be a fast groomer type day.
On the other hand, Yesterday was definitely underrated.
Was looking pretty warm and wet waiting in the lift at the base of Thredbo this morning, first run down Michaels was shin deep full heavy leg breaking concrete (At least not frozen!)
The freeze line seems really obvious, above the treeline is actually good. Windblown fresh on Exhibition, Ego Alley, Waimea is good
I’m down the Peninsula and it’s pissing down and coming from the SW, really heavy showers at times. Feels like snow weather for the S resorts. Hopefully some can push through and drop a bit this arvo
*for buller and LM.
On track for the rest IMO.
Sounded pretty good at Hotham & Falls yesterday as well. Not as good across the border.
Yeah @hongomania sounded pretty stoked yesterday.
14cm at both resorts with rain and snow at varying elevations through yesterday.
Some fresh at Perisher and Thredbo up high.
Pretty much what I was expecting... But yes, LM & Buller we’re the shock IMO.
Funny, from my experience I find Buller to either have people with bugger all idea due to it being the closest to Mel or people that think they are better than everyone, definately not as friendly as Falls and Hotham. Definately don't feel inferior to floggs. Hotham would be better than Buller to ski or board prob 80% of the time, Buller is good when it is top to bottom on the north side, but if not it is avaerage.
Baw Baw's Bigger
Who gives a shit yo. Go start a thread in Snow Talk and go round and circles...
I observe showers still streaming through Melbourne.
I observe Perth missed out on beating it's highest ever August rainfall by 24mm...
