Its great looking white again
The radar has been on repeat for 24 hours...
Thought it was
Buller about to be smashed from the SW, if temps hold there's another 15-25cm in that band IMO
Yep - as I mentioned in previous posts (and comes from the great lord @Sandy ) when you've got a Low centered directly over Tassie it's game on.
Or 15-25mm of freezing rain.
I think it should swing South Westerly as that hits, which is when Buller normally receives the most snow out of any of the majors.
I observe GFS nailed the position of the low
Wilson Valley getting smashed!
I could be wrong but it seems like VIC got really hammered this morning and now that band has hit NSW and looks to be hitting hard
Snow for now on the village cam. BOM AWS wind instrument has carked it/caked over so yep probably enough south in it, however freezing rain was reported earlier (even with -3.6C registering on the AWS).
Perisher claiming over 1m. How is everyone else tallying up at the moment? I would have thought the other bug 3 would have gotten more than that.
Only worry, its SW from rotation (ie cutoff), not frontal...so the fetch can be a bit odd and warm.
A couple of pics from our balcony at dinner plain.
The last time we had this much snow was 2000.
Which seems to be the way, according to Verm's message to me earlier.
Word from Falls is that it hasn't stopped at all today. Cedarwood backing this up.
Falls might take the gong.
I observe from here on who cares about reported depths. It doesn't matter anymore. What is important is the top 20cm and actually being there to ski it. Oh **** it. Can't get down this week.
1m... 1.2m... Storm totals are kinda becoming irrelevant. As far as the big 5 go; it's big and it's getting bigger.
IMO Perisher, Thredbo, Falls and Hotham are all over 1m for this system (either overnight) or during today.
I think that's the Perisher Centre
"we have the rebel base in sight lord vader"
We'll see tomorrow morning.
Kind of glad I'm not camped there this week but then kind of wish I was!
Thread winner for today
I observe blue sky on High Noon Live cam... That's it, It's all over folks, time to log off.
I observe some odd stanced humans
Yes, very fat sporadic fog
"You may fire when ready"
Snow still falling at Guthega. Amazing conditions.
Still plenty of love for BB/LM and Buller from the SW IMO.
I observe that there is a small part of me that feels for you... really
love it !!
Cant observe anything from Wilsons Valley
I'll bet Guthega has been terrible today as well.
I observe that in my snow depth data base (records began in 1954) there have only been 5 storms of over 1 m of snow.
This is based on the change in depth at Spencers Creek week to week.
Jul 58 103 cm
Jun 81 101 cm
Aug 81 108 cm
Aug 84 108 cm
Aug 96 109 cm
Will this be the record?
Top left corner - still dumping
I was living in Jindy '96. Epic days. Congrats all who are out there today!
A mate is up Perisher at the moment and the videos and pics are awesome. Still snowing heavily as of 10 minutes ago.
Just got back down from a drive up Mt Donna Buang , Heavy snow to the top above 10 mile car park they closed the road past 10 mile when we came down at 1.45pm. There's a good 6 inches of dryish snow at the top. The grader was up and down trying to keep it clear! Back at my house in Millgrove we are currently receiving heavy showers mixed with hail , the thermometer on my deck is reading 7 degrees and my rain gauge has just hit 40mm since I tipped out 12mm Friday night!
Thredbo River at Bullocks. It's dumping down.
Fun but rather damp day at buller. Hoping we get a bit of a SW bonus this afternoon/evening!
It's one of those new tapestry-weave cams.
well and truly SW now, should see it start to clear Falls/Hoth
August 25th to 28 2008 111cm edit- checked the memory bank
edit again- based on spencers ... no i don't think it went up metre ..but it was a 3 day storm that delivered 110cm, it also straddled a spencers reading.
If you work in Canberra look to the west now!!
shots at the Guthega Pub from yesterday morning prior to the big drop. must be buried by now!
Still going at LM for a change:
Need pics please?
7c and snowing at home (lake level Jindy) WTF?
