Franklin hut would have looked great in that .
Yeah be good time for a ski tour up there stay overnight at Pryors hut except I need to get fitter cant really get anywhere near it have to do the slog up from Corin dam. Or walk along the road from Bulls head.
Was hard driving away from Jindabyne today and missing the action on the hill. A lot of low level clouds on the ranges on the way through and temps dropped from around 8 at Cooma down to 5 and rain around Lake George. Temps are dropping in the CT's and moisture moving through so perhaps a dusting tonight.
The low looks to be picking up some moisture around SA/Vic border so hopefully some more snow for the hills overnight. Look to be snowing on the cams at Perisher but not showing on the AWS for a few hours. Any live reports?
Clearing at Hotham, moon out.
Clearing at Jindabyne but it appears the action is still taking place on the mountain. Bright moonlight highlights the thick cloud formation still menacing up high. You can see the odd snow shower reaching out into the lower hills in the lee of the alps. It felt cold enough to snow here but the temp has now risen to 3.5 degrees lakeside, so unlikely. Cams are just too frozen to know what conditions are like up top now.
Almost as good as Pryors
It's snowing on the cams, not overly heavy, but snowing none the less. The Perisher Valley AWS is extremely susceptible to freezing and can stop ticking over moisture, especially when snowing.
Yer, no change in measurement since 2:00pm when it dropped to -3. Friend advised it is still snowing but now lighter and wind has abated. Tomorrow will be the day.
Baw Baw radar showing 12mm in the gauge since 9-00 am. Still a little bit coming through. @Baw Baw Bear
Cheers we definitely needed it , hopefully it gives us a bit more
Sleet at Mt Vic NSW. Temps just dropped about 2 degrees in half an hour.
The odd big wet flake coming down now.
Is the sled ready?
I'm led to believe that the winter income from this venue sustains the owners year round. Hard to believe isn't it
Smiggins pub. Still dumping.
LM still getting heavy showers
Settling intermittently at Mt Vic NSW. Sled padded out for the invalid with comfy sleeping bags.
Face is sore from whooping all day. All time at Falls. Boot deep and Aussie
dry across the mountain. Snowed all day with the last flakes a couple of hours ago. Road now being cleared and clouds lifted. One for the archives. Ski stoke is widespread.
Kept the phone in the pocket on the hill but the village looking a picture.
First sled descent of Zig Zag bridle track, you drive, I'll be the brake man.
Just came to post that a friend is reporting snow at Blackheath
3cm on the ground at Black Springs (Oberon)
Great photos, partic the second one.
Reminds me of the year the snow gums were all snapping from the weight of snow....
Truly beautiful, thank you

Moon set over Jindy.
So which idiot said this was going to be a fizzer?
Clear with the low cloud lifted in the resorts for the moment, with a the exception of Perisher and Buller (looks like some breaks in the clouds for Buller though). Day of days, for those getting a slide in this morning.
Cloud looks return today though, as progged.
Buller +31cm. Looks like did well once wind turned SW
Rock garden almost gorne
And it was over - before it began.

Picture sai's it all - Smiggins right now
Snow on the Brindabellas this morning (Sorry about the bad quality photo).

Looks like a good day! Go hit it until the sun kills it
Humidity dropping at Perisher
I observe BB snow report on mountain web page
Thredbo claiming 130cm storm total. Allowing for resort BS and compaction we might be close to 2m at the next SC reading
I observe that all that Day After Tomorrow stuff may have been a touch overblown. Widespread wind hold on Saturday but good safe skiing throughout
I observe channel nine news reporting / warning avalanches possible in Vic resorts. Police recommending no one go BC.
with 70cm (+windload) snow on leeward aspects in the last 3 days and a heap of reported weakness layers, I'm not really sure why you would consider it on anything other than the lowest of low angle terrain...
