3pm over Melbourne:
-22C @ 500mb looks hopeful.
FL around 2.5k ASL though - that needs to change first.
Wagga showing a few degrees cooler (@ ~800mb).
Currently driving from Whitfield to Mt Beauty and its been heavy rain the whole way. Almost at the Kiewa Valley Hwy. Rivers look like therly are rising
Bands of cloud coming in from the west. Looking towards Perisher through the Snowy River gap from Dalgety hill. Still dry down here in the shadow of the alps
To say I got rained off down in Portsea at 3.30 is an understatement.
Thunderstorm warning cancelled for Victoria. Mostly a fizzer (in TS) over the metro area except down the lower peninsular.
And rainfall. Bugger all in the city so far
Drizzle all day DP, doesn’t feel v cold. Snow all turning to snot
Torrential down the pen.
Some good thunder and lightning.
Was working on an irrigation install checking lawn coverage when it came in...kind of hard to do!
There's a small thunderstorm moving through south eastern suburbs ATM by the looks of it. I'm sitting watching tv and noticed a flash out the window looking to the bay.
Looking at the radar loop it developed quite quickly.
Torrential in bonbeach
Cold air boundary looking very obvious to me, Just starting to clip Portland (SW VIC) now.
6-7 hours from the Alps yet IMO (5-6 from Buller).
There was a similar boundary over the Alps at 3pm. So was hoping the current band was cold enough. Time will tell.
Hearing some thunder and lightning in the distance in Box Hill.
Its pouring in SE subs Melbourne! @ 7pm
Its no fizzer for some! If a tad mild for my liking!!
Just got cold in melbs
Mt Hotham down to 0.9C... come on !
Mt. Seaview near Port Mac. has had 59.4 mm so far Sept. 68mm for Forster.
Lots of rain band in front of the cold. Just belted down in Queanbeyan, another band coming and Thredbo top +4c need the rain though ...
Good heavy showers here in the Dandenongs although we seem to have escaped most of what they got just down the hill.
Nearly got me on the ride home. I was in the garage not 60 seconds and it started pouring. It didn't last long though.
Back to solid rain in Thredbo Village...
Got to Buller at 6pm. Heavy fog but no rain. Fellow lodgers said we had some rain here today. Glad to have missed it. hoping for a dusting overnight.
Dust on crust? Ew
Had a bit of rain come down for a while sitting in a pub looking at it in Canberra. Pretty good regardless of the snow loss if thats the case as we need the rain. Not to much but it came down pretty good for a period there in town.
Snowing nicely at 1800m PB. Temps have dropped noticeably.
shame Thredbo top station is down today.
going to be a real surprise to find out what gets served up tomorrow morning. might be still snowing when the V8 opens.
Looks like temps dropping but still 2C at Perisher Village level. Precip rates increasing.
The 30min obs for Thredbo are down, but I can see that at 9.30pm it was 1.2 degrees at the top of Thredbo, but looking at http://m.bom.gov.au/nsw/thredbo-top-station/
FWIW, it is pissing down in the Village, but looking at the Cruiser Cam, it isn't snowing there.
Solid rain in Jindy. 9c. No fire.
that's might be wrong - as Perisher top at the Double is reporting at -0.5 and mt blue cow at -0.7
According to BOM @ Perisher Valley at the same time (ie 9.30), it was 1.1 degrees.
It could be wrong, but it has been dropping during the day, so it isn't out completely. Either way, it isn't snowing at ~1660m
Lots of colour on the Canberra radar . Solid rain here in Kambah.
Oh, and if you have a look at all the other weather stations there, they aren't correlating with anything that I can see, so, I'd say Thredbo is accurate enough...
Solid snow at PB. grass under the eaves is now white so its settling nicely at 1800.
Yes. I can hear it on the roof. About time.
Slashing it down with rain at Buller base camp by the gates. BoM temps looking UGLY up top.
Perisher vindicated by height for now:
Pays to flog the horse.
Yep pouring rain in Queanbeyan. Haven't heard it this heavy/continuous all year I don't think
Got me a few times on the way home.
~1800m is down to where it's expected IMO. No surprises thus far.
Snow might fluct a little lower tonight but proper accums are from ~1800 up.
Radar starting to ring the bell on Vic.
At around 8pm it was snowing from half way up the Antons Tbar track.
That's a keen late-eve dog walk.
7c and raining heavily in Jindy.
some love now @Buller
33mm in the BoM can, most of which fell in the last 12 hours.
Good drink lol
