10.7C in Hobart wind generally light NW'ly occasionally moving into moderate territory.
Sky partly cloudy visibility very good. Snow on Mt Wellington has receded up to 900m level. Humidity 57%.

All is fair and here's a view from Hobart looking south to the mouth of the river taken 10 mins ago: [IMG]

Recent forecasts show the coldest air from this first part staying south of the mainland. Looks promising that the temps are this low already. Should definitely help whatever fall on sunday and monday stick.

lookout hill still over 5, no good for snow. bit high on the pressure side of things, but the moisture is rocking, i got drenched at work today.

Looks like when this front is over later tonight we'll have a clear-ish, cold night to deal with, great.

Strange, about 6C around 2 bits of melbourne I drove through on the way home, was expecting the mountains to be in the negatives... Hotham 1.5, Buller 3.3! I would've thought if we're at 6C the mountains because of the elevation would be in the -'ves, but clearly the whole pressure thing is affecting it [IMG]

..not unless you've got REALLy good eyesight! [IMG]
It's in the Central Highlands between Ballarat and Stawell and usually a pretty good early warning system for when a cold front starts to pass through .Check out it's obs here
    http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/vic/images/vic-observations-map.png

(and look for a drop in pressure with the wind swinging South usually through NNW change...the you can post an "It's Coming!!"wahoooo thingy)

Chief, you only have to look at ADL's temps on the current OB for around 3am. It's reading nearly a 3C fall in temp in 15mins along with a 1mm of rain... This is what will hit the alps after lunch today.
    Adelaide OBS
Broad cloud cover all night is great for keeping temps constant. It is'nt until winds pick up and cooler air pools move in, is when you'll see the temps fall.

The maximum forecast for Melbourne is 14 degrees, but I think it may not get much above 12 degrees.

The temps at both Mt William and Lookout Hill have dropped in the last hour with the wind swinging more westerly. We might see some snow in the Grampians if it keeps going.
It's feeling decidedly frigid here north of Bendigo and the wind has definitely swung to the south west and is very gusty.

Just hit falls too - getting a bit at towers. Hotham's also getting a litte too.

That Baw Baw image (at 8:55am), you can actually see the flakes falling! WOOHOO!
