Back to rain at around 1600m here in Pilot Wilderness.

@SMSkier I found your mate... got within 50 yards of it. It didn’t think anything of me.

Front just passed through Lithgow. Just driven through Cullen Bullen with a heavy downpour. Eased off now. Currently 5 degrees.

    Enjoy it out there....

Increasingly less spooked by people. Here on the farm they were getting bolder however I suspect an old neighbour engaged a few mates and took some out. That seems to have sent them further away from humans for the time being.....

Looking up the valley, I think Thredbo has picked up 3-5cm above 1700m, should pick up at least 3/4cm tonight too.

unfortunately no classic westerly so accumulation will be uniform and not that great. Much different to getting 20cm on a westerly where the lee slopes of the main range become skiable on drifted snow.

You want this kind of snow falling on an established base. Damn it.

Nice light rain in Box Hill.

Western part of the low is now tracking over Melbourne and surrounds. Looks like the low (point of rotation) is just west of the Main Range.

Very wet through the Thredbo Valley from Jindy to Diggings. Hammering down rain.
Thredbo now registering Southerly. Should get interesting in the next few hours.

Just drove up to DHG, settling on the road at around 1450m, absolutely puking from Cascades. This is the road I just drove minutes before, my tracks already covered.

I’d say EC bang on with that 3mm/hr rate.

Bit of ground cooling on the NSW cams by the looks. Maybe 5 cents?

Took a look out from the CP turning circle. I reckon 10 cents above 1900 ASL. Main range looks like the higher elevations ( say above 2000 ASL) have enough to stick around. Windy up high. Zero in PV.

PV looks like 5 cents but more in drifts. Likely had some rain mixed with the snowfalls.

Snow clearer operating early on Kosi Rd.

Yeah 5 cents to around 1600m here in Thredbo. 10 cents above 1800m. Thanks be to that low tightening through Gippsland last night as expected.

EDIT: Other than the unavailability of cold air through the GDR, I’d say it’s close to what was anticipated by by some here, me included.

Looking good up top for mid-May.

Pt #2. And they received 0.8 officially - although on the ground they maybe received 5 cm up high? So perhaps a frozen gauge not helping. But it look like the timing of the cold air did vic no favors. Nothing new there - esp with Tassie to the south!!

Absolute cracker of day here in the Capital. Was surprised to see the high Brindies with a coating of white. Sorry not the best photo but the snow is just visible in the middle and left.

Sorry, was meaning the peaks in which had snow on it. Tennent seems low to accumulate snow overnight (I drove past it at midday today and didn't obs snow on it) but happy to be corrected.

Hard to see, but the snow is probably around bull's head / mt franklin area. Brindies can look so different from various points around Canberra - it can really throw you off if you usually look at them from a particular spot.

More likely to be Blue Gum Hill, a few km west of Tennent than Deadmans / Booroomba, but a fair bit higher, approx 1450m.

BG Hill and Booroomba both have rocky north facing outcrops, which can show snow well.

TBH i can't see which hills in that photo have white on them, the resolution is too low.
