Heavy hail in dandenongs
Here you go......
Snow down to 1500 ASL. At one point around 4 pm it was absolutely smashing down.
Road closed to CP ..... grrr. But there is a clearer operating.
I’m guessing about 15 to 20 cms in areas where it can stick. Wind had finally backed off late afternoon. Ironically, given the fires elsewhere, fire hydrants in the snow...
Some lodges doing ok. Kahane in first shot. It’s our SASC club lodge in PV.
Road repair vehicles not required today!
I hope they open that gate to CP tomorrow....
.... a few more in Perisher thread.
Top of Mt Wellington.
definitely worth the drive
SMSkier, thanks once again for the amazing obs. Superb.
You could XC ski on the rock hoppers up to CP along the road with that amount of snow. It is Definitely FOMO snow for this XC ski tragic.
Kids had some fun with it.
Snowing at home now-bucketing .... Moonbah at 1100 ASL....
Gotta love Autumn
Snow weather in nth melbs
A friends place at Moonbah
This time last week I was soaked in sweat after putting up a tent.. Dripping from humididy and heat.. Today.. snow. Classic Vic weather, love it! Few heavy burst here in Mitcham, nothing spectacular to date other than the big squalls that sound like a freight train coming up the road.. Great stuff!
Snowed down to 500m asl about 15kms inland from east coast Tassie today. First pics are Fingal Valley Range, second are base of South Sister. Ben Lomond was caked down to foothills.
I am going to Mt. Baw Baw tomorrow. I will report back with photos. I am taking skis and @beefa skiing will also be there.
According to my Jindy neighbor it is snowing at Hill Top 2628
Settled snow around jindy
Down to 0.4C at Cooma Ap so it should be snowing there too
Ben Lomond from back yard once the clouds cleared at about 10am.
It was caked almost to the valley floor which I didn’t see all winter.
Also considering the Baw Baw possibilities. Will see what the morning brings
The famed Falls Creek glacier worms will be happy.
Do the Pygmy Possums like the snow?
Stay on Topic.
If you're lost refer to the title and post #1.
Snow did not make it to the CT, got down to 6’c with heavy rain yesterday evening at the Sunny Corner turnoff on the GWH. Maybe a couple degrees colder in Sunny Corner but still too warm for snow.
it was 9’c and had stopped raining in Bathurst when I arrived.
Good thing I took Bells Line avoiding the bushfires around Woodford.
Feeling for the people who have been impacted by these fires.
Down to –3.7° C this morning, with a fair amount of snow-cover. My conclusion is that the snowfall i.e. moisture was over-estimated (patchy snow down to ~1,100 m, with the patchiness also owing to wind drifting); whereas the cold was under-estimated, forecast –1° C yet plunged below –3° C.
Moisture was very close to prog for NE Vic and Snowies.
Hotham and Falls are probably the exception here.
Forecasted, EC Friday:
Looks like winter again on the main range. (Gutherga Cam)
Meanwhile......Perisher Front Valley.
Most of what fell here melted quite quickly. That which survived froze, including the rain guague. Has 5 mm ice plus frozen snow in the collector.
PV from the verandah.....
Kosi cam looks ok!
Jillamatong reflected on the hut window.
BenLomond from St Marys Backyard cam today.
Going off the cams it does looks like 15-20cm of settlement on the MR.
I observe the Ski racks out the front of Buller's Ski School are looking lonely (!?)
Sat 9th Nov at 9.30 pretty wild setup with the cold down south and the smoke up north
Hoth looking "on point" this AM.
Baw Baw via FB.
Mount Donna Buang via Mountain Tucker FB.
Baw Baw magic.
Is that you?
Met Mr T in the carpark as he was leaving around midday.
Quite a few peeps up there. Even a pack of snowboarders sitting on the top of the hill. Felt like peak season
Snow just keeps on coming at Buller:
Didn't manage above 4.9° C the entire day, the sky's gotten black and wintry again, and now down to 3.3° C. Right on TWC's 5° C forecast for the maximum, as opposed to BOM's 7° C forecast.
Daily Min/Max: –3.7° / 4.9° C; very November-like!
No, I was skiing solo today . I did some nice turns coming down the BB XC summit trail .
Mt.Baw Baw. Sat. morning Nov. 9th 2019.The table o meter for 24 hours snow fall measuring. The XC trails were in very good shape , better than October 9th 2019.XC skiing at Mt. Baw Baw was a joy on 30 cms of fresh powder snow, that is until the footprint brigade turned up and trashed the trails.
Wet snow down to village level at Thredbo
October storm baby
I observe a Full trip report for Mt. Baw Baw XC skiing today 9/11/19.I observe that The Baw Baw Plateau has had a great snow season this year , better than Perisher for XC Skiing conditions in spring.
I observed ice in the snow gum trees at Mt. Baw Baw on Sat. Nov. 9th 2019. I took a photo using my mob. ph. since my SLR digital camera was playing up in the cold.
