LOL
Be a slow run down Main Street through the gloop!
I know it may not be what you want to hear but we just took a jaunt on Bogong High Plains Road from Trapyard gate. The road has full cover but marginal for about 3km. Not something you would ski on (even with the legendary Mr. T XC/BC/AC/DC rock hopper op shop skis) but then it is consistently good with at least 20cm cover. The other thing I noticed was all the snow from the gate was light and powder. I was expecting snot. It would be deep enough for a tour but I think any steeps would find rock pretty quick on a turn. Cloud coming back in now but temps are still good and the snow held its condition where it was deepest the entire time even though it was quite sunny.

Snow level (laying on the road) was around 1300m. 1550m to 1600m asl would be deep enough for a tour. We did not get to 1700m. Mt. Wills looked like it had some reasonable cover but doubt it would be much deeper although it may have benefited by the easterly approach of this system. If it was this good that far out of Falls then is should be just as good closer. Hoping it can hold for the weekend.

we did a quick tour of summit and sun run to test out the snow.
epic blue sky makes for some pretty photos.
its only 4 weeks since major surgery, so I'm still not skiing, so that makes me ms pink jacket lady's private photographer.
hand sheer and makeshift pit (i didnt have my shovel) show a 5-7cm easily fracturable storm layer with a perfect right side up untriggerable layer right to a mostly icy well bonded base. i think its a good start to the season!

Buller temps looked awful but Falls/Hotham temps on the Bom looked like they stayed around 0 for a lot of last night...I could have missed what happened in the middle of the night though. Looks decent still up there...very sad for Buller and Baw Baw they were looking lovely :(
Lake Mtn. looked prime for some XC skiing early on 9/6/21 .The R*** and winds did their voodoo. It is now no longer matching that description :-(. Back to the Weather forecasting and hope casting drawing board for the Southern Vic. Ski locations.
