Midday Himawari8 Sat pic says it's a broad area of cold air sweeping into the Eastern Seaboard.
Just look at that plume of dust in the Southern Tasman!

ASCAT reading from in the Bight. Just click for larger version. 30-45 knots at the low's core.

Mid-level moisture cloud band (rain) in front of the cold air. Models were showing this on the humidity plots. Posted in the other original thread.

Looking to sea late yesterday arvo the dust looked like bushfire smoke out on the horizon.

The BOM radar shows a heavy band of precipitation moving over Melb. at present. The temperature here in NE Melb. has dropped , it has become quite dark and it is raining quite convincingly. It looks like a cold & wet day of mainly indoors winter pastimes today.

The smoke from our terrible bushfires in January 2020 has travelled around the globe more than once in the upper atmosphere. Such a thing is remarkable and a bit disturbing when you consider the ramifications for the total impact on the planet(our only home) and its environmental health at every level .

8° C and sunny, but I don't think it'll get much higher with the current humidity (77%). Could be the max for today. Dark, hefty cloudband to my west, and fast-approaching. Better be some good rain that comes out of this.

Still in the 6°–7° C range here with sunshine, but low and very dark clouds are just about descending off the range, and I'm right in the firing line. I notice the change has just hit the SW Slopes; Hunters Hill (981 m) at 4.5° C now.

    Round 2 incoming!

The northern resorts getting a liltle with temps dropping but evidently also the chance of precipitation. I think the gurus in the predictions page got it really well early.

@chriscross ,@beefa skiing and I would all be up at Baw Baw for Nordic skiing tomorrow if it were possible.
It looks like round two is on up there and it is snowing quite nicely and filling in any footprints or bare patches.
I would say the Op Shop rock hopper classic PB XC skis would be perfect tomorrow at 9 am for a 9 kms lap of the BB Village Nordic trails.
