Looking like a mix of rain/sleet/rain on Merrits live cam. Hoping for more sleet/snow.
I know the best has come and gone but.....

    That’s enough for now.......

Powerful winds still hammering here in Moonbah blowing stuff all over the place.

Overcast, misty but 21mm in the guage is more than welcome.

Bloody windy at Sydney airport, relying almost exclusively on the single cross runway. Most domestic flights running behind. I observe my 2:30 flight home will be happening a little bit later.

I observe you might pick up a bit of lost time on the downwind leg.
    Buckle up.

Dopple building in anger over Sydco. For those not in the know, colour indicates wind speed Blue is towards radar. Red is away from dar.. the deeper the colour, the stronger the winds.. Anything with colour is containing showers. Its the best way to track incoming moisture potentials imo.

So going by the Dopple, over land is SW but over water is turning dead South. Sooooo coastal showers should build overnight as the land turns more southerly and the ocean SE kicks in.

Settled in for the evening in Jindy. Cold slightly damp junior soccer in Cooma this morning. Jindy still misty rain and wind at 7c.
Time for a nice bottle of Red with the footy on in front of the fire.

    Lovely plan.

I'm settling into a few of Russia's finest whilst watching the showers push through.... I've got a CIA mystery tour on Nat Geo awaiting game time. They are now into LSD trials so very interesting.

I can still picture Falls in August 2015. I'd finally convinced the crew to do a week in Falls. Snow was shocking bad the day before we arrived (only man made lakeside runs open) but as we hit the toll gates, the cloud moved in. They let me drive the Suby up to Parallel St to unload and by the time I finished, there was 10cents on the road...

Got the car out then settled in. By Monday l morning we had 40cm of fresh and Summit was open and still dumping. By Tuesday morning we had another 30cents of pow so we ran the village roads to International, grabbed first pomas and hit the Maze.... we all took a different line in knee deep and the WOO HOO'S could be heard across the valley's... My best memory of 30 years skiing Falls. And it kept dumping that night so it was rince and repeat ha ha. Whole mountan open by the Wednesday.

2nd best memory was June 2000 straight after the Dump. We had Bogong Ski Club to ourselves that week. I still remember shovelling the deck for 2 days. Got it cleared and then the roof loading slid so I had to do it again.... its a great problem to have..... looping the Maze by the end of week with only 4 other people.

Heard vague rumour of FV only opening next Friday.. It really cant Normo is still o'seas. Told him I would get 100k on him and that he might catch me.. lol (Wouldn't be beyond Perisher with clear colder nights this week to double the depth on FV to 1m..and do the pose thing..

No not in psr gossip column.(its too much effort) one of the regular skiers of PBlue. I would be surprised in a way as I would hold off. But the the temps are good and if they can add a heap it would be ok. We skied on June 18 last year and it was nice and smooth as. The blowers were on toward the end of the week and are a bit annoying. They would have a foot at least on FV , why not add now in the cool weather. If we get more by early June good.

Lel. But to be honest, daytime temps could cripple the snowpack, but snowmaking temps at night will be very optimal. They would have to work hard to get there.

My 3rd year on snow was 1990 which burried the 1st floor of most places in the Village. 2.8m base at the bottom of International.... but I was only in year 7 and learning.... back in the days of Dog Patch poma... Summit and Village were T Bars.... at the moment, I grade new vs old school if they remember Headwater Poma.... Pre and Post Headwater ha ha

Appears to be lightly snowing @ Perisher. 0.6C according to the local BoM AWS.
Expect 5cm of new snow in the morning report.

Embedded reds in 'toward radar' pings usually indicate microbursts/downdrafts/outflow, but that screengrab is loco.

Fast building storm stacks mess with Dopple hence why you need to view in conjunction with Rain Dar.

Rising air around a stack will seem calm., until it tops out and a micro collapses a roof.... its still -25 uppers over 23c water..... the snow phase is finished but the ECL is just starting to feed. Track the wind and you track the storm.

I've always had my eye on the Tasman / ECL with this puppy.
Postive SST anoms and all just registers in my dna.
This time of year the white stuff is very temporary.
Few drifts may see it thru , top up with the guns in the resorts....

5 cents on top of recent falls won’t do any harm up high where I suspect there may be a bit more around. A few guys got themselves up near Guthrie’s after the last fall and built a little kicker to amuse themselves so there was a bit about before the current falls. Keen to see that damn gate (at PV) open!

Yes I see the max in Perisher may stay in single figures with -4 at night, need really low humidity at night. The big high will oblige while we sort out the next round?
