Very good - the RFID system is starting to get to the stage where the only time you pay full price is at the ticket window - which is fair enough as there is a labour component as part of that transaction.

Australian skiing finally joining the rest of the world [IMG]

Hope other resorts are taking notes here, Thredbo the big winner on this one.

AND the 5 of 7 day pass. Soooooooooo many people in Australia are not ski fit and hate the 5 day pass cause they can't manage 5 days skiing in a row. That or there is crap weather in the middle of the week but they feel they have to go out and be miserable in the rain otherwise they have blown their dough.

However 5 of 7 is PERFECT for so many people. Take that crappy day off, who cares? Have a rest day, who cares?

Go home feeling happy and not ripped off! What a weird concept I know!

Congratulations Thredbo, hopefully the other resorts follow your lead here.

Buller announced a 6 day any time pass.

Nobody is budging on the single day tickets which I agree with, but there are plenty of offers out there now for regular skiers.

Hadn't noticed that as no plans of skiing Buller this year (Sydney based) but that is great news for Melbournites.

Mind you I was considering Hotham or less likely Falls but since they are still living in the dark ages with pricing I am thinking it will be Thredbo this year for me.

Yes it is a deal breaker as far as I am concerned in choosing which resort to go to. Makes no sense, makes me mad. I don't want to be mad on holidays so that makes it a deal breaker - there is no reason to not do 5 of 7 type pass with current technology and the refusal to do so is just pure money gouging IMO.

If it is like Bullers it is of limited use (read next to none) to interstate visitors.

Interstate visitors typically make 1 week trip to the snow for the year (well to that resort). So a 6 day anyday pass doesn't help at all as you are only there a week so it is basically your entire trip and makes no difference. For those nearer it would be great.

Interstate it is all about 5 from 7 type tickets (3 or 4 from 5 as well).

6 day any day pass is PERFECT for Buller trying to get people to make extra day trips up, making a day dash from Sydney to Hotham or Falls isn't going to happen so the pass is of no use at all.

So I guess it depends on if they are looking for the Sydney/Wollongong/Newcastle/Brisbane/Adelaide market or the Albury/Wang one.

I would imagine the Hotham/FC pass is reflective of their predominantly weekly clientele [IMG]

I never thought I would see the day when I said "I am going to Thredbo because it's cheaper"

    Nice work!

Perhaps you're right. I initially wanted to do a 5-day trip from Mon-Fri which would cost $416. Then I found this May special 6-day any day for $499 so I decided to go for this one and split my riding days to Mon-Tue, Thu-Fri, Mon-Tue. This way my friends who live in Mansfield can go with me on both Mon-Tue = 4 days together. Otherwise, only two days. I'll also have rest days and avoid weekend craziness too.

Thredbo 365 pass is the best thing I've experienced in snow world. All of a sudden Thredbo becomes cheapest when all things considered.

If you have been skiing for the past 40+ years you know that 3 day any day, etc have been around for a long time. Perhaps Thredbo, Perisher have realised that parents don't want to waste money on consecutive day skiing in case of bad weather.
