Friend of mine is a journo, I spoke to him over the weekend and he says the cops got wind Greg went camping with intention of committing suicide, hence the choppers.
Yep, not a surprise given that it was reported he’s had a fight with the wife as well.

Police probably were worried about finding the bodies, more-so than his mental health.

A blue vehicle was seen near the deceased persons camp site
on Friday March 20, then at midnight an unidentified (?) vehicle is heard turning around.
A photo of a blue vehicle, at night or early morning, on the GAR is released without a time/date stamp (that I can find).
Assuming this is the same vehicle, how long would the drive take?
Would this leave enough time to bury the deceased? Or would the occupant(s) need to stay another day to dig the graves?

Plenty of time to stop on that drive. The vehicle was photographed early morning. It is hard to say how long the drive would take. Slower at night but not 6 hours. Maybe 4. Dargo High Plains road is pretty easy but up to there it would be slow going at times.

Timing is a very useful thing. I once persuaded prosecutors not to proceed by convincing them that their as the cockatoo flies estimate of how long a trip would take on horseback was incompatible with reality on the ground. The gutless magistrate still committed the bloke for trial but a later no bill application was successful.

I’m wondering if it’s close to 6 hours.

Perhaps… he’s been at the campsite, driven out towards Abbeyyard, got turned around at midnight close to Wonnangatta Track, dumped the bodies at Grant and went out via DHP road.

Driving erratically around Wonnangatta Track, had he already dumped the bodies and was trying to get out or did he have them in the car?

Trailer more likely. If they were in the car, the DNA would be very detectable, but he got rid of the trailer and they're looking for it.
Well, trailer… yes sorry. But more to the point, did he have them with him when he was turned around or was he on his own.

If he had already disposed of them, he would have made to to the camera site quicker. If he had to dispose of them after the gate incident, that would have taken a few hours, taking into account the drive and disposal.

Didn't have to dig much. Reported that the bodies were located in the hole left by the root ball of a fallen tree. Probably just covered with sticks, leaf litter and what ever he could scrape in.

His grave digging skills were lacking or so it seems.
If he was a true nutter he could have cut them up into much smaller bits with a chain saw and then dropped the pieces down an old mine shaft. That requires planning and a strong stomach.
Another option was that he could have eaten them, maybe roasted them a bit and added some kind of seasoning or sauce but evidently he was not that hungry.

The third option was to cremate the cadavers. He did n't have enough petrol and firewood to do that properly either.

It sounds like an amateur at work. That is why he got caught!..

I enjoy black humour. Do you know the Monty Python sketch in which John Cleese goes to the funeral directors / undertakers to look at options for burying his late mother?. He was offered the three options: A burial, a cremation or dump her in the river OR he could eat her. Of course if he felt guilty about eating her then he could dig a grave and throw up into it !.

Everyone should put their phones and devices down while at the dinner table. That will teach you. But I can express your sentiment. Do we really need this type of humour? Making a joke about the various ways to desecrate two murder victims. Perhaps John Cleese would pull it off better.

WTF? Harmless. It's bad enough people saying what you have to think and what you're not allowed to think. Now you're advocating only certain types of humour be permitted? It was so bloody obvious it was humour from the outset (just like the first2 sentences of your post) - so what is the problem?

I can see what he was trying to achieve but it was pretty crass.

And when it comes to humour sometimes it’s better to leave it to the experts. Like John Cleese.

wasn't crass at all. Just "silly", and against the run of the thread. if that is offensive, then people have led sheltered lives (overall). Mr T doesn't need to account for if people are eating their dinner. (I've never understood why people get put off their food, your food doesn't taste any different)

Anyhow, If it was MrT, then he'd use his All-Terrain tyres to flatten them evenly to make them all the easier for burying, then switch tyres as the pattern on the bodies would match the T-mobile.

Most of us ask ourselves this exact question everytime we look in the DJOTD threads!
Lots of people on these fora who lack a sense of humour. Use a bit of hyperbole and so many run around licking their wounds with big sad eyes. Every bloody time. Is it the fault of our education system that humour has been drummed out?

It has become so bloody boring and predictable when people post bits from Monty Python to express anything. And everything. Do none of us have anything amusing to say these days that is permissable? Or do we have to put a big bloody advertisement around it to say "this is funny. It's Monty Python". And if they don't do that, they're misunderstood.

....black humour seems to be dying, and people are more sensitive than they used to be (apparently). But there is a time and place: a forum is one of the few places where you can use it, as there are always a variety of styles, opinions etc.

Not according to some. Black humour should be banned. Except Monty Python, and even that not at meal times, or if someone is likely to read it while they're having a snack.

Have you been trying this technique out for yourself?. You would have to put the car in low gear to get an even flattening effect .

Not true, the bodies just keep skidding out the back and flying off to the sides, unless you are driving a steam roller or have fitted chains. An axe makes less mess than a chain saw BTW. This is not dark humour it's "Bleck" humour

It would appear I should apologise for taking offence to what @Seth has aptly described as crass humour. I did not say it wasn't humour and merely questioned if it was appropriate. My first thought when I read it was about whether this would be something you would say in front of a family or friend of the victims. Clearly not but it is posted publicly and anonymously. I am not opposed to humour and was suggesting some self moderation. We can all be less than sensitive at times. There are just some things I don't find funny while other people slap their sides laughing. Making a joke about dismembering of eating the victims is not my brand of homour. I guess that means I will not say sorry. Sorry.

Utterly. But at least 2 posters above called it 'black humour'.
to me black humour would be "some retirees will do anything to avoid paying the Hotham resort charge".

yeah the internets are full of keyboard warriors, myself included. There is a time and a place - and the internet is THE place and there is never a bad TIME LOL To be fair, you actually can't assume this is read by the family - this is not a public news piece written by a journo. Just remembered - in the 90s black jokes would be circulated by email in the corporates - not any more - so we have all got more sensitive in that respect (also I think we have all got bored over them).

Personally, I wouldn't have posted what Mr T wrote, just because, but I was not that fussed over it's appropriateness. I think given half of us are interested in case details, it's more interesting to discuss "timelines" and details. The sleuth website someone mentioned has people asking dumb questions over what happens in camp etc, I don't quite see how they will 'solve the crime' - but that's the internet for you.

You might want to check how crass is defined in the dictionary.
my threshold is very high. I thought Mr T's comments were pedestrian and laconic, with a bit of juvenile dry thrown in, ("seasoning") if anything. It's not like there was actually any blood or gore described. That was for the reader to use their imagination.

Fair enough.

This is a fair side track in the thread even for convo.

Perhaps we should all just wait for the TV mini series to answer all our questions.
indeed, now that could carry a MA15 rating esp if there is a connection of a shovel with a cranium.

I am not assuming it will be read by family and friends but nobody can guarantee it won't be. There are over 30,000 members on this forum and only six degrees of separation according to the 1993 Kevin Bacon film. I have no control over what is posted but would ask people to show some sensitivity just in case. How much you show will be up to you and the moderators. I understand my social conscious may not be wired in the same way as others but it my opinion and based on my own personal experience. I have broad shoulders. If you want to have a go at me for caring about grieving people I will cop that.

I don't find the titty titty bum bum schoolboy humour of some in here to be funny either. But I move on and say nothing unless it's positively insulting/degrading to women or others. Everyone finds some things funny and not others. And that's part of what makes us who we are. To say that some shouldn't express their personalities in regards to their sense of humor is an attack on that person and who they are.

I agree with that. I don't mind a black sense of humour when there is a time and place, but personally, I don't go there publicly first. Have to admit, I don't have much time for the endless memes and in recent years don't pass on jokes - that's so 00s/90s.

I'd have to admit I have a low/high range. Notwithstanding, remember that this is one of not that many threads on a forum, accessible by the press, and all parties, so our phones would have been tapped and our accounts pulled, if not for the recent success.

It's often said by conspiracy theorists that 'they know everything about you' - it's the more the case that 'they' can find everything about you should they choose to zero in on you, getting warrants as needed. ;)

I think you're mixing up the Fred Schepisi film starring Will Smith with the game SIX DEGREES OF KEVIN BACON.
But you make a reasonable point.
Probably right. I am no film buff.
To say that some shouldn't express their personalities in regards to their sense of humor is an attack on that person and who they are.
Understandably. I have no power to stop the expression but I do have the power to say I find it offensive. To deny me that would also be an attack on my expression. My thoughts are victims and families of victims are off limits to black humour but I am not against that type of humour altogether. Scum bags are fair game.
