Hello, I'm Wet Snow (David): a long-time poster on WZ (since 2002). I love weather & climate & have been keeping up with such for most of my life. Although I live in a small town in W.A. (Western Arkansas), I've always been fascinated with all things Australian (esp. your weather, as the seasons are "backwards" to ours here in the US). It's really hit-or-miss as to my town getting accumulating snow--as the weather conditions have to be just right. I'm sure I'll enjoy my time here & I hope my weekly/monthly/seasonal weather posts will be interesting & informative.
Hey David, Welcome. If you like snow and you like Australian weather, then all the action is in Alpine & Southern. We have a disciplined method of running two threads for each approaching front. One for Predictions as the front forms and rolls in from the west - and one for Observations as the front passes through. I see you created a thread at WZ for Mena, Arkansas. Feel free to start a similar new thread in our General & World section. Look for the Post New Thread button top right.

I chose "Wet Snow" as a nickname on WZ, as I thought a "weather-related" nickname would be good, so I chose my favorite kind of Wintertime precipitation as my nickname. "Wet" snow is better than "dry" snow as the "wet" variety packs together very well & is great for making snowballs, snowmen, etc. Good accumulating snowfall in my town is really hit-or-miss each Winter--as the conditions have to be just right. We have just as good of a chance to have (sometimes very damaging) freezing rain/ice storm events in my area.
WZ Refo from the FNQ Tropic's. Thanks for the WARM Welcome people, it's friggin 8 Deg C here at the moment a bit north of Cairns. Very nice user friendly site you all have, there is literally thousands of everyday forum users looking for a new home in the coming week's flowing out from WZ right now, then thousands more around Oct-Nov when the Tropic's pages users realize that WZ is no more when they log back in for the Storm season and reach a read only page in response. A friendly dedicated user page for such people will snare many such people if you can cater for them all, though I'm sure you are already aware of that.
