34 mls in the Exeter gauge this morning. Probably a record for 24 hours for us. So now my 18000 litres of tankage should be full by the end of the day for the first time in maybe 8 plus years.
Another 19.5mm recorded until 7:45am today bringing the event total to 30.0mm April total at 95.7mm and ytd 147mm which are both the highest in the 6 years I have been living here.
10 & 1/2 mls in the Exeter gauge this morning. Based on the noise on the roof last night I would have thought more. Tanks not quite yet full, just a another 10 ml fall maybe to get the overflows working. Except the toilet & laundry keep drawing down the tanks.
For May so far, 1st 4.5mm, 2nd 3.0mm, 3rd 0.5mm, 9th 16.5mm & 10th 3.0mm for a May total of 27.5mm. YTD now at 174.5mm which is 18.3mm lower than at the end of May in 2016. Should hopefully be able to make up the deficit!
Cold front hits parts of Adelaide metropolitan area, bringing hail and rain http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-19/cold-front-hits-parts-of-south-australia-bringing-hail-and-wind/12264830 It was a bit breezy at Exeter at 1630 when the leading edge of the front smacked into us. Not a lot of rain.
Updated rainfall figures : May 13 0.5mm, May 20 1.9mm, May 21 7.8mm, May 22-May 26 8.5mm, May 27 0.3mm Total May (to date) 46.5mm, Adelaide Airport total May (to date) 35.8mm. YTD 193.5mm. Currently at 0.7mm more than the total to end of May 2016. The fore-casted 9-24mm for Sat - Tue should increase that gap even more, although Mon & Tue readings fall under June. Adelaide Airport YTD 170.2mm Rainfall at Ponde from Apr 26 - May 25 was 68.5mm which is pretty good for Ponde considering it's in a rain shadow (located east of the Mt Lofty Ranges and the effect is exacerbated thanks to Mt Barker which splits the streams from the SW) Areas from Gawler to Burra, even 15km east of Burra were green when we drove around the region on Thu-Sat last week. Much nicer than the customary brown colour which one normally is used to seeing.
I’m sure we’ve got a few more days in May? Bloody better be or my work program will be up the creek. Just shifted a concrete pour 3 times due to late May rain concerns.
Can’t say I thought the weather was too bad. But apparently it was a bit over the top here & there. SES kept busy as strong wind and heavy rain hit Adelaide http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-01/ses-busy-as-strong-wind-and-heavy-rain-hit-adelaide/12306614
First 2 days of June 2020 yielded 7.9mm & 1.0mm. I have discovered an error in my rainfall spreadsheet so my correct monthly rainfall totals are as follows : Jan 23.2, Feb 24.6, Mar 4.0, Apr 95.7, May 51.5 & Jun to date 8.9mm with the YTD at 207.9mm.
Um, I think that if you add your 10.5 + 0.5mm for June that you actually have 214mm YTD, so actually you have ~6mm more rainfall at this point in time. You had a much better April than I did. Not much happening for the next little while rainfall or storm wise.
My count was to end of May. I'm sure you'll overtake me in June despite my current lead. Bugger. But then again I'm 3 floors in the air building steel concrete & timber and do not need the rain during the day onsite.
Adelaide CBD records coldest morning since 1944 as ice forms on River Torrens http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-...-coldest-morning-since-1944-bom-says/12340480
Did not check the bird bath this AM, but it was real cold at Exeter at 0630 when I left for work. abc report again for today. River Torrens ices over again amid freezing temperatures across SA http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-...es-over-again-amid-more-cold-weather/12344286
Coldest temps I recorded during that cold spell were around the 2 degree mark. There was light frost on the "lawn" and parts of the garden. I've recorded 1.0+10.0+5.5 & 1.5mm = 18.0mm from Saturday until Tuesday morning bringing my June total to 27.6mm and YTD to 226.6mm.
I have been slack with the Exeter obs, lets see what I can remember on the fly. 17/6 3 mls 16/6 3/4 ml 15/6 1/2 ml 14/6 nupe it’s gone, I’ll edit in later.
1.7 + 12.1 = 13.8mm for me so far for this system. Scraped in to the 12-36mm range predicted on Fri morning for the next 4 days. June to date = 41.5mm & YTD 240.5mm.
1&1/4 mls in the Exeter gauge this am. It sounded like a lot more when it fell on the iron roof last night.
Total June rainfall = 48.5mm, Adelaide Airport June rainfall = 40.8mm. YTD rainfall = 247.5mm, Adelaide Airport YTD rainfall = 213.6mm Recorded a minimum of -0.5C at Ponde in the last 3 weeks. Minimum during June at home was 2.0C.
2mls in the Exeter gauge Sunday. and 1/2 ml in the gauge this morning. Also a seafog this morning, very thick, maybe 30M vis at 0630. And drove back into it on the way home at 1600. I’m told the fog rolled back out to sea so it was Sunny in our backyard all day. Currently sitting in 100M vis seafog down on the Semaphore coast proper, and getting thicker.
A bit more on the fog from the abc. Heavy fog creates 'eerie' atmosphere in Adelaide, delays flights at airport http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-14/fog-rolls-in-over-adelaide-delaying-flights/12452184
I'm kinda still clinging onto ECMWF hope cast Jellybeans posted 7.10 this morning on 'hand of faith' thread showing 20cm for Mt Bryan... ...do I really need to let it go?
A pitiful 20.5 mls at Exeter for July. I would like my money back, BOM said this would be a wet Winter. I’m starting to think it’s a waste of money buying them bigger and bigger computers.
