    Hi all,

Come and share the stoke, re-assess your comfort zones and get inspired as we hear some adventurous tales from two exciting speakers on Thursday the 16th of May:

DOUG GRUBERT - Antarctic voyager extraordinaire.

As a 20 year old, Doug had a chance meeting with a French round-the-world sailor, with whom he sailed across his first ocean. "It was an encounter that pretty much ruined my life" he claims (only half jokingly). Since then the sea has been a constant distraction which has disrupted every other aspect of his life: career, marriage, and other outdoor pursuits.

He now dedicates several months each summer to adventurous sailing expeditions, often below 50 degrees south. (Recently he has voyaged to Patagonia, the Antarctic Peninsula and the Ross Sea). Despite this obsession he has managed to avoid turning into an antisocial fringe-dweller.

Earlier this year Doug was the organisational and operational powerhouse who helped some infamous members of the Adventure Time community carry out a very successful and enjoyable Antarctic expedition that had all the right ingredients for adventure (and YES, he will definitely be sharing some choice tidbits from this particular expedition).

Importantly, Doug intends to continue exploring southern regions by yacht and is always looking for co-conspirators with whom to share an adventure...

VICKY CHEN – Sharing a love of climbing with Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Combining her great loves of climbing and hummus, Vicky recently spent two months volunteering as a climbing mentor for Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

What started out as curiosity-filled adventure turned out to be a learning exercise in the complexities of working in forced displacement contexts and how lucky many of us are to be able to choose to suffer at the gym or the crag or bush on a regular basis.
Working five days a week, Vicky spent her weekends exploring Lebanon’s famous limestone crags and even managed to pop over to Jordan for some much needed crack-action in the breathtaking Wadi Rum.
