*Sigh*...it has begun. AC have changed their app, we now have 2 bookings with different numbers showing on the app. I login to AC online, however their website says we don't have any bookings!! Now on hold to a customer service number for over 30mins with no indication of how long it is going to be... Welcome to AC!
Well it was a long flight, and not one I will repeat with AC hopefully. Main problem was the seat, seat width in particular. Luckily I was seated with family, so it doesn't matter that we were "cuddling". Seatguru says the seat width is 17". I just read a review of Brittish Airways A380-800 which has a seat width of 17.5", and they didn't like it! It would be horrible to be next to some overweight person who you didn't know. I never expect much of airline food, but AC's food was quite inedible. Don't expect better. The staff were quite professional, no complaints there.
FWIW going out of BNE on AC is a little nicer as they use Dreamliner, seat config is 3-3-3 rather than the very cramped 3-4-3 in the 777 equipment used on the SYD run.
How did this pan out? I have one leg Calgary to SFO with AC and when I checked my seat allocation I noticed I now have a new booking number, apparently due to a system upgrade. The old number works too. But when they changed over, my first name now has “ms” appended. Like “Maryms” (eg). They missed a space. I’m a bit worried now that the booking doesn’t match my passport. I have both bookings printed and am staying at Calgary airport the night prior so figured I’d check then.
Wasn't a problem. AC csr also said it was "routine" to change the booking reference (?). No problem with passport control etc.
My AC tickets always seem to end up like that, I think it is just the way they do it. My upcoming one looks like this. The last few have looked like that as well
The 'Dreamliner' tag applied when the B787 was designed as 2-4-2 but 3-3-3 is still better than the B777 3-4-3. I wonder how AC's High Density B777s will fare once flights resume when jurisdictions open borders for travel.
Different world. Middle seats of threes not being used now, likely to be removed going forward. Can foresee some airlines changing to wider nice seats and promoting the extra space. Not hard to see discount flights like what we had before COVID being a thing of the past. For a few years at least.
I'd be interested in an option where couples can buy the middle seat for half it's full price. The Premium economy you're having when you're not having Premium economy.
I believe a travel agent can do a three seats/ two people booking for you. I've heard of such things.
