What's the opinion around here, is he just a whacko? http://www.climatecrisis.net/ http://www.pewclimate.org/
no..not whacko The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years. Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level. The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade. At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles. all readily visible and demonstrable facts. However, the naysayers have a secret society of scientists that say it is all a beat up. On the other hand..if you "see" a cloud shaped thing on the horizon for a few minutes in the afternoon..that's hallmarked proof of UFOs and alien life..no science or explanation needed
these may all be facts, but from a scientific point of view, you must eliminate OTHER CAUSES to come to the "human cause" conclusion. Q. do you know which part of the precession of the equinox cycle we're on?? What is the current soler output figures?
I (through discussive experience) find those most opposed to climate change are the very material ones e.g., new V6 or new $80K V8, business owners, corporations - who through their marketing, financial, societal clout, further their strength of argument in opposition - as basically the power balance / struggle that has existed in humans for many centuries - it is just a modern version of it. Haha - someone above mentioned evidence or scientific fact of UFOs - as if that would ever happen. What perpetuated by greed government, company, or organisation would back such if it existed and undermined their monopoloy / power whatever, by giving the populace such power as to think, "hey there is more to life than this stressed out materialsim." Go watch a science fiction movie like Star Trek where they arrive at a planet of supressed, mis-informed beings. You will find, such planets are mere illustartions of our own muted existance.
Sandy We may very well be in a warming cycle..very possible. The problem is it appears to be more rapid than any other period we can apply our (albeit flawed) but best science to. If it is human accelaration how will our children and their children perceive us if we have just fiddled while Rome literally burns? If we are wrong and it isnt CO2/fossil fuel related there can be no long term harm in the research and delivery of sustainable or "clean" energy systems...unless you are an oil company. There's always a best case and worst case scenario. We just have to plan for the worst case(ie Human derived global warming) cheers pixie
I'm not arguing against Human derived global warming..... I'm saying that if you MUST say that Human derived global warming is FACT, you must give a good factual supporting argument.... I happen to think Human derived global warming is fact, but it is not the last 30 or 100 years of warm weather that convinces me, because that is far too small a sample of time to give a convincing argument.
