Why? Why not just ski on the best runs with the shortest queues?
Can't imagine why you would want to do that.
edit. ride every lift that is, rather than skiing best terrain.
ask the VM crew
Midweek perisher is ski on every lift pretty much.... no lines.
That's a little different. I don't think those guys would be riding the carpet lifts.
Because you can?
And then after lunch...
I'd need a better reason that that to ride a carpet for next to zero vert.
I think Normo ran the carpet 156 times in June.
I remember Shiga Kogen doing something like that in the 80's. You could get a card and collect a stamp at each lift and could get some certificate if you collected all of them. Seemed pointless skiing stuff I had no interest in, so didn't bother.
All pubs in one day
If you do it in the Dolomites they call it the Sella Ronda and everyone ooohs and aaahs.
Season 2014.....carpet 579 times......because it was there!
Even my Therapist asks "why?".
That is covering a fait bit of ground though, rather than up and down the same face.
....and as for the "All Lifts in One Day" challenge....go for it!
And any other challenge you want to set for yourself on the hill......do it!
Hot chocolates! Li'l Orbits! Black, Blue, Green, Jumps, Rails, Corrie Pipes, Chardonnay, Groomers, Off Pissed, Eyre Burgers, VM's, BC, Tele, board.....whatever.
Don't crash into each other and ENJOY!
I saw this video awhile back.
There was some truly terrible snowboard turns in that.
I think it was more about quantity than quality. Their snowboard skills were better than mine anyday. I'm just the master of falling down.
All lifts in one day.
It's not that hard, I've done it at Baw Baw!
I like bumps. Many think I'm mad. Does not stop me skiing bumps.
I didn't like Sebastian
Tried 2 years ago during school holidays.....impossible. Lift queues were nuts.
Did it last year, midweek in August....easy peasy!
We planned it so that we'd \ ride every lift (and yes, carpet) only once. It did involve a little hike up behind North P bullwheel, but otherwise a pretty good challenge.
We started with first lifts from Telemark t-bar (close to where we were staying) and finished sometime after 2 pm.
Fun...except the bit where we had to go to Smiggs.
'sif olympic t would be open
I let my 11 year old and her friend loose by themselves for a day in Perisher last year, and rather than them wandering aimlessly for the day, I gave them this very challenge. With the exception of a few carpets, they achieved all the lifts
Will you set them the "All Bars in One Day" challenge for next year?
Did that in Mountain Restaraunts with a group in Saalbach/Hinterglem one time. What a tour that was
Thats naughty! I'm sure they won't drink till they are in their late 20s!!
Wow! That would be a SERIOUS tour. That is a lot of bars.
Um, its Perisher! Where is the vert? Its like wheres Wally! Its kind of like a bigger Merritts.
Oh boy I could go on, but I get busy heckling the crowd that start on the other side at Thredbo.
Actually we were talking about doing it one day, be harder than doing it at Thredbo, especially with a no lift twice rule.
Thanks for posting this. Will be aiming to do it next season with as many of the carpet rides as possible.
I'm keen to try it for a bit of fun.
If you are anywhere for an extended period playing ski map bingo can add to the fun.
If you normally dodge t bars you're forced onto t bars, if you normally avoid that green run just coz it's green, you might remember how much fun it could be...etc
Because it's there?
Reckon it would be more fun to take a challenge of skiing all posted runs in one day .... of course only at skifield where it is actually doable as well as difficult
That keeps getting shipped around!
Those are my buddies.
@spaz and also Ash the girl who one the snowbum prize (it was during her time there post prize) and is now the Charlotte Pass snow reporter.
Yeah I recognised the nose of the board.
I attempted to do it in Whistler my very first day a couple of years ago.
The only reason i failed (the rest of the group succeeded) was cause i did not know the mountain missed a turn and went to the bottom and had no mobile contact with the group.
I ended up at the bottom of over at Whister and they were going to Creekside...
Far more interesting doing every drinking establishment on the mountain.
OMG, I'm sorry but I listen into the snow reports just to get a chuckle at the CP ones. They are sooooo bad this year. Today's pearler "be like a telephone and dial some tricks". Apologies to your friend
Come on he cheesier the better right?
They still do snowreports?
I was pretty certain they used to that at Perisher in the mid 90s ,although it may have been unofficial and mostly just between people that were based there for the season.
From memory it was done on a week day late August/early sept.
Every half hour on snow FM, all resorts.
I'm not sure if they are intentially bad though, they don't come across it that way. Especially on the days that the news reporter reads them, in a news reporters voice. Comes with owning a radio station as well as a ski resort I guess.
I guess I don't have a radio .
I try not to listen to it often.
I think to a certain extent they are cheesy on purpose!
Not every bar. Was with the barmaids from the Stamperl Bar and couple of instructors so most of it was Gratis. It was also Fasching so plenty of madness. Ended up skiing down from Kohlmais in the dark straight into the Shirmbars at Bauers. Bells and horns going off,,,, Sepp was already there surrounded by 5 cougars with a big smile on his face.
