Don't you go knocking Kahtoola micro spikes!. They are useful .Is there any chance of doing some out of season rock hopping on XC skis on Monday or Tuesday?.Baw Baw might kick some goals with some skiable snow....

This looks skiable!!. LM is according to the automated modelling going to get 15 cm on Monday. Tuesday will be rock hopper-able. Mt. Baw Baw is presently on track to get 12 cm too. Are any of these forum users interested in such an excursion? @beefa skiing , @chriscross ,@pegasusSki ,@Carola .

I wonder if @teckel will open her shop on Monday through to Wed. next week for out of season ski / snow gear hire?

One would have to aim to be on the hill and Nordic skiing at 8 am at the very latest for some fresh tracks before the rain comes and the temperatures exceed 3 degrees Celsius.

Just took a look to the South-towards the Vic border. It’s very calm now with zero wind locally (for a change) and mild temps. Current conditions disguise the forecasted conditions....

Light steady rain down here on the Mornington Peninsula.
Nice temperature for trackies on the couch.
I’m enjoying this delayed start to Summer

Locally that’s a good thing if it comes with some rain... When the main event arrives a day or so later then maybe that elusive thunder snow?

But the 3000 or so LeTape riders including @robbo mcs and @DidSurfNowSki whom I caught up this this afternoon could suffer tomorrow. Especially but not limited to the Perisher leg.

A brief period of heavy, large snow flakes down to 1100m Monday mid-morning, in your region. Funky DGZ layer in there suggests so, IMO. The odd rumble might be in that band.

While most of the country, aside from eastern Vic & western Tas, is doing it's best 'dry, dusty bastard of a country inhabited mainly by flies, prickles & fire', Mt Read has casually ticked over 4000mm year to date, including a modest 576mm just for November!! Probably another 200mm in the next week.

Few kilometres east they are importing feed for their sheep.

Bugger the IOD, that's where our water has gone....

Errr Eastern Vic is very dry and dusty, and half of it on fire presently - been in drought for 3 years!

15-20cm max for the mainland IMO, and more likely in Main Range, as posted back here:

The modelling for BB is holding at 9 cm of snow by Tuesday morning. That is enough just so I can say I have XC skied in December !

    Waiting......

3 drops of rain today. Breeze is up now and it feels a little cooler in the last 20 mins or so.

    Current view from the verandah.
