Good for staying ‘true’! Due to a necessary trip to Sydney, we must isolate for 14 days so Alpine Backcountry will be closed until approximately the 13th of July. We apologise for any inconvenience and wish good health to all during this phase of covid. We will resume our free information nights once this lockdown is ended. See you then.
Free info nights? Reminds me of the mid-90s living in Crested Butte - the local shop "The Alpineer" would have slide nights once a week (or month, I can't exactly recall) where locals would show slides on recent adventures (overseas skiing / climbing / biking / paddling expeditions etc). Was extremely social and promoted a great community. Always wondered why that didn't seem to happen here!
SASC always did it. Don't know now, haven't stayed at the Club for over 30 years.

We are opening especially for those escaping months of lockdown (you owe yourself a long weekend!) 8:00-5:30 daily Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday. Nov 5-8. For those who have missed the season, come and enjoy spring on the main range, with enough snow up high and some great descents to be had. Expect some walking and wet feet! but hey, it sure beats 3 months of lockdown. Happy to open out of hours by appointment (message please). Plenty of great rental options including AT tech bindings, AT frame bindings, telemark, split boards, skins, poles, backpacks and beacon/shovel/probe sets. THURSDAY UPDATE: And then it rained...and rained..and rained! Heavy warm rain throughout the Monaro since last night. Rain predicted to continue for Friday, lightest on Saturday then more on Sunday. Monday might be the pick. You'll have to be keen I would say, with the Snowy River up and much of the remaining snow washed away. Just guessing from here in Berridale, but the long strips will still be there, think Club Lake and Carruthers etc, but it will be marginal or none elsewhere. So, being agile ( ha ha, you have to learn something from pandemics), I'm changing my hours this weekend to "by appointment". Get in touch if your mad enough to come down and I'll open up for you. John
Thanks TNM - I think we’ll be aiming for Monday,Sunday was the go but looks like another wet one.
Will follow any further river reports - having done a waist-high+ crossing NYE 91’ - that’s where I’d probably go the long way via Siemens Hut or via the Kosi chair.
Fwiw: I’ve noticed a rather inverse relationship between ease of Covid-travel and snow cover. It seems the rule of ‘diminishing snow return’ it can also apply to NSW snow too! Who’d have thought it?

Hi @Rabid K9 . Plenty to choose from G3 and Contour Hybrids for splits. New opening hours closed Mon/Tue/Wed morning except by appointment (lifestyle, can't have BC shop without getting out into the BC!). Let me know what works.
