Sorry if slightly off thread.

I've been trying to get in touch with the Alpine Gables, Jindabyne about a booking I've made.

I've tried emailing twice and rang twice to no avail.

Does anyone know if they are currently operating?

Thanks.

There are a handful of cars around there at the moment, so somebody is around.

Managed apartments last time I checked. Not sure the contracts allow for air bnb of the premises? They were real cheap a few years back, but banks don’t like lending money for them it seemed.

Oh I didn't realise the Alpine Gables rooms were individually owned?

Yes they do.
@GlenH the majority owner is a bit of a character and goes through site managers like water. So I’m not surprised you have difficulty getting in touch. Direct through an individual owner is better.

FYI the Brumby Bar is a seperate entity.

Alpine Gables is the similar to Rydges Horizons. Units are owned by individuals. They then have the option of keeping for private use, renting out privately, or having the unit placed in a rental pool and managed by Alpine Gables.

Wow, thanks All, I never knew that.

I eventually got in touch but it was a strangely long process.

My first association with the Alpine Gables was on St George Travel ski tours in about 1986 !

How does that work with a collective pool of funds divided up I wonder?

Im not sure what you mean?

It works the way and apartment works.

Same way as Rydges Jindy, Novotel Crackenback, and the Thredbo Alpine apartments work.

Just Cost a fortune in strata fees. As long as the main operator owns majority share it will never change.

Nope I mean, apart of the rental pool. But renting them out through air bnb privately.

I looked at them in 2016, 2017? Do happen to own one?

Im guessing majority shareholder fills their own apartments first.

Re rental funds. If your apartment is rented out you would get the funds, minus any fee that was in your contract.

Dont own (would never!) In there. Know people who live there AND used to clean an airbnb in there so know/knew 2 owners.

Yeah right, Not the vibe I got aye? Although was separate strata title, just didnt come accros like they'd let you live there. Or sell to you if you planned to more like it.

And yes, obviously majority shareholder would scratch their own back.

Majority share holder lives in their garage!!

so must not have that in the strata deets.
But also unable to stipulate to a buyer when they sold if their lot.
As I said upthread the Brumby Bar is not operated by the majority shareholder, which not many people know either.

Out of curiosity has the Alpine Gables always been set up like that with the ownership arrangements?

No, a family owned it.

Last person standing, sold off not quite majority was very strategic about it.
