In Vancouver with the fam from 31/12 - 4/1 and want to do a day or two in Whistler. Have Epic passes for Colorado later in Jan so the skiing in WB will be 'free' so may as well take advantage. Clearly this is a very busy time and with the expected snow the hill and the roads will be busy as...

Anyone have experience with how to approach this? Do you leave super early (how early)? Do you leave a bit later and miss the early rush? Are there less people at Blackcomb so start there? Is there a best place to park so you can get away easily at the end of the day? Is New Year's Day good because everyone has a hangover and sleeps in?

Cheers in advance for any intel.

I've not done this, but as a suggestion, leave super early and grab breakfast up there before the lifts open

Lots of parking at Whistler Creek.
May save some time getting out of Whistler.

Car pooled a mini-van a few times from Van, you want to start at 5, or 6 at the latest. Park closer to Blackcomb or Whistler depending on where you want to be for the day, Whistler base is usually ok though. You might save a bit of time getting away basing yourself at Creekside, but then you have to start and finish at Creekside. The worst part of the trip is hitting the Lions gate bridge on the way back, by several orders of magnitude. Take the Highway 1 bridge (ironworkers) instead if it looks dubious.
