Hi all, I'm having a couple of weeks with the family in Thredbo. This week and sporadically next week while I work.
If anyone sees an old fart in full olive pants and top on DPS, say hello.

I'll be round, in a red jacket, black pants and a black hat, oh wait, I've just described half of the world skiing population.

Given no martini I’ll stay home.

I'll be up on Sat for the Yuki Birds day! Though I dare say most of the ski.com.au forum isn't the right demographic...

Is anyone else from here doing it? @LMB ? @Ozgirl ?

Signature Hill was surprisingly good, I'll post some more pic a bit later. Getting back, required a bit of bush walking though. There's a pic in the Thredbo thread.

    I’m on one plank.
Had no idea anything was on!
Hopefully I’ll still be moving after my terrain park Friday :mad:o_OLOL

I’m with hubby and some friends from Cooma - staying in Cooma. The plan for Sat at this stage is to swing past and pick up @Ozgirl in Jindy and come play in Thredbo. Popping in to The Denman for a Mark Travers session afterward.

I did meet @fenrir and we did half a run together before i had to stop and take a video of my wife who is not a great skier but thought she had progressed a fair bit. She wasn't impressed with my video because everybody else around her was going much faster. All week I've been saying trust yourself and increase your speed. I tried to bite my tongue.
    Good to meet you fenrir.

Yeah! Didn't even think of that and I'm not sure she would have gone if I'd have mentioned it. She likes to work on things in a one on one situation.

Lessons for sure. I knew we would be skiing a lot together because of the conditions, I thought I could get her to the next level. I know what she needs to correct and can communicate it but for some reason it doesn't happen.

She can ski most of the mountain no problem but gets spooked on icy conditions and skis slowly.

So yes, we'll get her a couple of private lessons on her next visit.

This. My daughter won't listen to anything i try to say to her to improve her skiing. Just goes straight into outburst mode.

"I know that, thats what i was doing, its someone else's fault, i hate you, its your fault................"

Yeah my daughter as well but then I see her practicing everything I taught her when I'm not with her and she is sooo competitive and such a stickler for technique. She was the same when she swam competitively, one of the most beautiful techniques you'll ever see because she would just do it and do it and do it until she got it perfect. I can see that same dogged determination coming out in her skiing now.

    *most*
    not all

    Case in point.

But your wife may be different.

    Suck it and see.
I am pretty good at taking instruction from my hubby or son - usually the son if it’s snowboarding. But every now and again you just need an expert with a bit of personal distance to coach the changes you want to see.

Both my kids were experts at your daughter's age, and did believe anything that I said was worth their attention. This included minor technical tips like turning.

To be fair, they'll be better than me by the end of the season.
