And if any good is this a good deal?
Not that I can afford new skis or boots but I'm feeling more than a bit jaded this year and perhaps I need a new challenge
ANSCO have some very cheap skis at the moment, They sometimes get caught out with excess stock after a slow previous season

    Knock yourself out.

$1000 for a pair of ex demo fibreglass skis from the Czech republic. Go hard, bargain.

Ansco know what they're doing. They were the importers of Karhu skis (until K2 acquired Karhu and put their skis under Madshus which they'd also acquired). Also the importers of Voile and other well known brands

and they sell cheap xc ski poles for about $35. (edit: even if made in Russia)

Never mind paying $200 at other shops

No freaking idea actually. My head isn't in a good place this winter but I need some fun back in my winters. I was looking for something else [ tent poles] when I saw these

OK, if you have no idea and based on my understanding of your snow activities (which could be wrong) I'd say save your $1K for another day.

Obviously you are right and correct there but as I've not bought new Alpine ski gear for 30 years I was wondering if it was value for money and a reasonable set-up in its own right.
My last Alpine ski purchase was a pair of Atomic Red-Sleds The ATC-3 which had a Tele binding mounted to them a few years ago

$500 would be a good price ..... if it included skins and poles

Moondog, I believe there are a lot better set ups you could get, whether ex demo or not than that set up.

I think your best bet is to focus your thoughts on what you want to do with the skis. Then play around on your computer a bit longer and see what's around.

Sounds like you're doing it a little tough at the moment. Spending on some new toys might get the juices flowing momentarily but then you could end up with something you're not happy with and find yourself in a darker hole.

What boots are you sporting at the moment? If you're doing it tough, I'll see what I can do to get you out there sliding with no out of pocket. PM me.

No worries, can't help you out there.

Get up in the mountains and breath that soothing air. Not a bad place to pay homage.
