Yep, all over FV cam at Perisher now.
Seems like raining in thredbo village
Lots of flakes on PV cam. Temps marginal
Look at that temperature drop
Dropping quick though. Most of Perishers own measures now close to or below zero according to their App
Was there any prefrontal at PV? Hard to tell from the obs. Sounds like a hairdryer today but not a lot of prefrontal?
Gauge says about 4mm. Hardly worth worrying about.
Wasn't that worried just cross referencing the predictions thread..
And so the season-saving week begins...(we hope). Go you good thing!
8.2mm through to 0.3 - was 8mm at 1.1 - - now neg 1.
Looks like DSNS' statistical model for end of Aug is firmly on track.
I'll quality, most predictions were talking about 10-15mm of pre-frontal, some a lot more - I think there was one that went for 20-40mm.
IMO, the less the pre-frontal the more likely we are to hit the upper range of the predicted snowfalls over this weekend, which is pretty tasty.
Something big next week
I'll check the perisher gauge myself next time, sorry about that.
Now snowing as of 7:30pm. Top station temp now reporting -2.1, was +1.2.
Strong NW gone, replaced by moderate southerly.
Good result from pre front .. Cold air showers/snow looks substantial on sats radars
about 5-8 cms so far, michell hut, mt bogong 1679m asl
Snowing in Thredbo Village and starting to settle
nothing like earlier in the day! quite still now. vertical aniw much better than horizontal rain
aniw = snow
I'm calling 12-15cm on the cedarwood table already. Now that won't be resort wide obviously but with the wind this things carrying there's gonna be some tasty wind loading in the leeward areas.
Left home at 3pm to drive to Thredbo. The strong NNW winds gave me the best average fuel economy from Canberra to Cooma in the 9 years I've had my car. Was raining from Penderlea to Thredbo, quite heavily in the village when I arrived around 5:45pm. Turned to snow around 90 minutes ago and is snowing quite steadily now.
The main band has cleared most of Vicco, not a heap left behind it. Maybe a few more cents tonight.
Standard operation for BB , temps good no precip
15cm Hotham village. Wet snow. Fitting chains all vehicles 1200m in rain. Thanks for that ARM
At least you have wet snow, sorry frustrated BB dweller
Actually I think we'll get snow for a while
Perhaps not as heavy as this afternoon, but there's plenty of moisture and coldness moving through from the SW.
Yeah noticed the radar filling in with speckle over Adelaide so still looking pretty decent.
Thredbo opp Black Bear Inn tonight....
And look at that precipitation rising!
Rain band heading over Adelaide now, we are certainly not done yet.
7 cm so far at Dinner Plain, but it has stopped for now
Just started raining here and windy as, maybe snow tomorrow.
Upper Blue Mtns
Goulburn temps dropped over 7d in 15m. Raining in Crookwell 3-4d
Looks like the bulk of the moisture has passed now, still a few showers being driven across the SE atm. Few more cents tonight, but looking forward to round 2 tomorrow.
Realistically there was no need to put chains on 2wd until the old ticket office.
Tonight's count was 5 people at the overnight parking 'directing' people - money getting spent real well.
Hey there's fresh snow though so should not get too irate - albeit very sticky and wet. Not a powder day tomorrow.
Rain snow mix. Don't worry. It's snowing up top. Tomorrow will be the best day in the past couple weeks.
Sandy's inside topping up the wines and clearing the schnitzel platters
At Buller about 8cm fresh and then heavy rain for a bit turned it into a new base (lost the old one a couple of times). Back to snow now 10 minutes ago.
Snow has stopped at Perisher for the last hour. Drying up.
Hailstones hammering Adelaide. More snow for the skifields tomorrow
Perisher ticking over nicely with 22mm so far since 4pm Friday.
Is there any way of getting a copy of the Towers (Falls) webcam image for 6:20 am on the 20th?
Something very strange going on but it updated before i could grab it.
Where did you get this figure from? They are claiming a modest 15cm.
15cm of snow would seem about right given the pre-frontal.
Was it snowing
16cm at Hotham not bad..
Cold and clear in Camberwell this morning
