Drove up from Melbourne to Seymour at midday. Encountered some heavy rain through the divide between Kilmore and Tallarook. Had a few showers this arvo in Seymour. Didn't get higher than 12C. Gonna be a chilly night here.

Big BS on that one. Their line, but I skied both today, and if they push a bit of snow around easy to open it all. Just lazy profit hungry A-holes.

I observe frustration and though i understand i have to say having worked at hotham for years i can promise you that its in no one's interest to prevent lifts from opening. If they can they will, the negative feedback is not worth the few bucks saved from staffing the lift.
From a patrol perspective having marginal cover then a dump requires time to settle and work out if all that glitters is gold. Getting groomers to the locations you speak of mid day also has inherent risks and challenges with public.
I can empathise for sure but i can assure you from many days of wondering 'why the hell is this chair running for no one' experience that it would be open if safe and possible to do so.

Was sleeting in Canberra around 12:30 today. Temperature dropped to 4C as the squally showers came through.

Big contrast to yesterday when it was over 18C and felt like Spring.

In contrast they ran HV yesterday when the rest of the state was pretty much shut. They do try pretty hard to get terrain open.

Also @Boodwah it's not so easy to push snow around watershed when the cat punches through the snow to the creek. If there was enough snow the lifts would be turning.

I reckon Perisher has had more snow since lifts closed than it did during the day today

Thats a big call, it seemed to snow most of the day, north perisher was awesome this afternoon, some of the best fun I have had in a while, being chased through the trees but my child on a snowboard.

Thats the one thing I'm beginning to learn about Perisher, there is always somewhere out of the wind and the cloud

I base my previous comment on the fact that we had maybe 5cm during daylight hours and about that since

Still blowing and snowing at Thredbo. Hasn't stopped for over 24 hours. Must be 30cm+ by now. Still no where near having repaired the lost snow of the last month. But nice tidy up and change of consistency back to winter conditions.
Busy in the morning but everyone must have gone to Perisher in the afternoon as it was ski on most lifts.

Back in July they ran HV on a day where they probably shouldn't have. Almost felt like the chair was going to get blown off!

Observing temperatures a little more marginal in Vic. Good rain totals in SW though - they'll need it.

It was. 5cm reported for LM. But a lot of it has vanished this morning - assuming it turned to rain during the night :(

Wow. Woke up to the same weather this morning. Blowing and snowing at Thredbo. No real accumulation in the village with some warmer temps today but socked in hard up on the mountain and can't see the top.

It's how the resorts stay in the red. Without them, people visiting and sharing their experiences i doubt this forum would be as hugely trafficked as it is / have as many amazing shared experiences from snow enthusiasts.

Gloomy day in melbourne, not terribly cold mind you.

Yep fully understand that's why this forum is good to cut out all the BS and just call it as it is, like today at FC, windy, wet, Low vis, still fun to be had in the trees in the wind loaded areas etc, I just think a no BS assessment allows people to make an informed decision, that's why I'd be no good in business lol.
