Walk was OK, no rain, but it feels colder than it did this morning, not sure if it is though - more snow to come also some lightning visable here, didn't hear any rumbles though
Snow was wet at Perisher on Sunday as well, Sat afternoon was really nice though.... RE: The Hotham road, we visited there for the first time weekend before last, until that visit, I always assumed that it was just some idiot in a govt department enforcing chains / regulations. This is truly not the case. I have driven on snow covered alpine roads in NZ / Europe / USA for whole seasons, and I can attest to the fact that the Hotham road requires this level of intervention by authorities. (I drive AWD, and was glad I had chains with me)
This morning's sounding suggested that there was a slight possibility of storms. Certainly more CAPE than we've seen for a while (and pretty unexpected for this time of year): At this time of year, any positive buoyancy is a surprise for us, really. To be getting to transition at 870hpa is pretty low in the atmosphere. Yeah, it's not Darwin in the middle of wet season like conditions, but it's a half-decent recipe for storms in the middle of August, and that's what's happening according to the radar.
Dont get me wrong i agree , but good luck getting resort mangement to hire more people .. it is a problem , but more what i was getting at was it isnt the fault of the people trying enforce it .. they do everything humanly possible to make that road as safe as possible but they just dont have the resources for that kind of supervision
If you look at the rader an you notice a bit of a hole kind of around the Brighton to Sandringham area, and everything developing around and after that hole. Well im sitting in the middle of that f**king hole. C'mon give me something
Hi, TIA_M, It's a state highway and is managed by Vicroads with contractors ploughing the rd on their behalf. So Vicroads have a resonsibility to maintain safety (ie. Patrols at relevant times) with input from resort management & road Users. Cost? They get off lightly in Oz. Ploughed area is relatively short (less so Hotham & Perisher) & there's no howitzer/Avi work to do like aay Milford Sound or Rodgers Pass BC. Its buckpassing thats all. ( Racetracks are patrolled/marshalled!) - not a frree for all (like an Hotham i e day!)
Whilst Kama / RG isn't the longest run it's easily got the best pitch in P for deep face shots. So jealous Craig, so jealous
I remember Michael's response when I told him I dont wash my hair with shampoo, except for the day I get it cut, and I get a haircut roughly once every 2 months, sometimes longer.
Im in the same boat kinda, I do wash with shampoo, but no way near as much as probably should. Hair gets cut when I think its probably about time.
Great late after noon in Bo, big dry flakes, no wind, bit warm which was weird, lovely! Nothing now, hope it cools down.
Nice slow-moving blob heading towards Buller, temps dropping there too. Another 10-20cm tonight would be epic!
Bizarre. 3.1C & light winds @5pm on the AWS. And 3pm T-Skew puts the freeze level around 1700m. A litte, local inversion layer perhaps?
Wind speed is very low 4 knt which usually reduces the effect a bit. WSW with higher winds I've noticed is the worst.
