Looks aweful on Sat pi . What cold air is left behind the warm air is heading over the top of the alps.
So how much damage is expected to be done? Going up to buller for the weekend and they only just got all lifts rolling.. hate to be boarding on grass
I don't expect all lifts to be rolling, Runs like Cow Camp, Whiskey Creek and Wood Run will be affected by the rain worst
The radar looks like the kind of thing I would like to see in Spring when we need some rain to fill our dams and help out the farmers prior to summer. On the 1st August though, not so good.
Most of the larger dams (Dartmouth, Hume, Eildon, Thomson) have plenty of capacity to fill atm. They're gonna get another bump after this system rolls through. Pretty much all run off.
Temp at Perisher still Falling , below 0 at top now, bring that radar return over, more snow.. , it all helps. 2.8mm in gauge till 9am, Its not heavy only light till 10am.. Now where has our low gone?
they call it a "wintery mix" but it aint real wintery in reality. "****ing useless marginal spring like mix" would be more appropriate.
Pretty much only good for testing out how waterproof your gear is, but inevitably, you'll probably end up damp on the inside no matter how breathable your gear is. Not many on the hill at Falls. Would still rather be skiing than at work though.
Dunno. I reckon about 2 or 3 hours skiing in the rain and I'm done. It's definitely a low fun factor activity when it's wet IMO
Nobody enjoys skiing in the rain... But you do it cause you had to sell the dog to afford the lift pass.
I reckon if we can get through today with wet snow /sleet above 1700m we have done well. edit...report from dinner plain 1570m is its now snowing (wet snow)
Looking at temperature figures for areas where the rain band has been through, there was not any temp rise, so hopefully it will stay as sleet rather than rain.
Appears to be on and off. Marketing department was definitely out when it was snowing. However if we can get through the day with mix of snow and rain we will do pretty well. Should almost negate any loss with a gain once it cools later tonight. Might dodge a bullet here.
