    1.6 at Mt William.
It still hasn't reached the Vic alps though, both Buller and Falls in the +ves.

Welcome to the forums. Just saw your post. AAO or SAM is important for getting those Antarctic fronts up close to Australia and they answer the 'cold air' question. And of course IOD is the producer of precipitation and if they are both good, you get good cold fronts. I think SAM is the secret tool used by people who are trying to pick out a good and bad season.

If ENSO was at La Niña, we would be seeing some more ECLs. Because most of the climate factors are lining up, we are getting a good season IMO.

I think you know more than you think.

Perisher continues to tick over at 1.2mm per hour. Although temps are marginal, South Perisher cam suggests it's cold enough

Snow starting to settle on the roads at Buller. (2 to 3 cm)
Still not huge flakes but it's trying hard.
Bus driver predicted 10 to 20 cm starting after 10.00 pm tonight (love the positive vibe)

The problem is that the SAM/AAO is near impossible to forecast out more than 7 days...

If we could get a more long term forecast say to a month then we'd be onto something super useful.

I observe it's not a "good season" IMO
    Below par in my books...

Not hatin' on ya comments mate, nor being sad and cynical, but this season is pissing me off.

Falls Expat called it a month ago, good snow bearing systems are tapering off rapidly.

    2016 so far....

3-4 low level snow events so far - typical

3rd rain event - prob just above average

Hoth system and Falls at 1.2m ish at start of August - below average IMO

Baw Baw - below 20cents on the ground, only 2 runs open - way below average IMO

Perisher - good cover throughout but not 'great' - below average IMO

Lake Mountain - VERY POOR natural cover - below par IMO

Buller still got next to nothin open Southside, Federation, Bull Run etc.... No runs in lower Northside like Dam, Tyrol, Cow Camp... - below average IMO

If we don't get good snow next 2-3 weeks, save for a spring bonanza, 2016 is going down as a farkin fizzer in my books. Honourable mention to superb quality had by those lucky to be out in the 60-80 cent events in July.

    #anotherdisapointment

I observe cold air taking its time to arrive at NE resorts, Falls took 2 hours to drop from .4 to . 3 degrees. Farrrrrrrrrrk me o_O

Let's hope mid August delivers some decent snow. :headbang:

Please keep to observations in date range. There's plenty of other threads in weather where you can discuss the season as a whole.

There was a lot of water lying around after the big downpour the other week, the Whorouly Creek was over it's banks and the King very high. This doesn't surprise me at all.

Temps have fallen sharply in Perisher in the last couple of hours, but it looks like it's drying out (unless the AWS has frozen).
