What a contrast from yesterday Might be more than the 6cm reported
Perisher starting to snow quite heavily. Bare patches from yesterday now fully covered.
The cam at the top of High Noon looks great this morning, it appears the run was groomed early and it has snowed on top of it. A day to be first up Gunbarrel!
Need more obs, sitting at work!!
I observe still a bit of juice in the Bight.
Lets hope Huey keeps letting it go.
Isn't it getting ridged into oblivion?
Another 20 would be very noice.
Seems to be still SW fetch on Satellite.
Another 20 would be very handy.
Would be a very good result considering what yesterday could have done.
Dodged a bullet on this one, and another 20 would be a solid net gain
Dat rainshadow from Tasmania. I'd be very surprised if there's another 20cm left in this.
Was looking a bit like instant replay for a day or two there.
The joys of Oz , only a degree or two between pleasure & pain.
Maybe a song in that !
Perisher have reported 10 at the terminal and 20-25 up high. Confirmed.
Hmmm yes Vic radar shows it up well here too.
That makes sense. Above 1800m+ would have seem gains earlier in the day.
Damn Tasbogans blocking all our snow.
Buller delivering the goods this morning. I'm no expert but I reckon 5 to 10 cm overnight and some fresh tracks to be found this morning. Some of the better skiers are even having a crack under the wombat chair.
A bit windy in the exposed areas and a little ice on the groomed runs. Suns out and everyone's dry.
Heading towards summit and Southside after a coffee. Some dark clouds moving up from the south though.
lot of snow damage at lower altitude on Monday arvo/evening...it was raining at Michelle Hut most of Monday before Team Bears departed at lunch time....temps were above freezing most of time we were there....
Hotham @_hotham 58s58 seconds ago Mount Hotham, Victoria
It's opening up on the fresh
Anyone driven through kiandra or around selwyn (outside the resort) and got an update on cover after the rain?
In a desperate search for vertical they hit....a road.
I observe an awesome day at Hotham. A bit breezy but 10-15cm of fresh and wind blown in the gullies all morning.
dont you mean wind loaded.
Quite a cold day in Sydney. 13 degrees in northwest metro.
Sleeting in Mt Victoria Blue Mtns
FZL = freezing level.
Where can you access that diagram? It looks like a Skew-T sounding, but very different from how the Sydney sounding currently looks. Looks like it is for a user selected point forecast - is it publicly accessible?.
It does indeed.
I'm not sure where Andrew get these from. He's in the aviation industry, so perhaps something to do with that.
You can get a "forecast" GFS sounding from BSCH (select time and location) from the stormcast page.
Many thanks, back on topic, continuing to sleet in Mt Victoria NSW.
Snow guns blazing at Perisher
Is there an issue with the Hotham AWS?
Buller, Falls both under -3C, Hotham saying it hasn't been under 0 all day. With a southerly blowing, I can't see Hotham not having negative temp right now. It's certainly not registering any values for windspeed up there.
Suns out on the Buller Cams, Buller X could be soon!
Yes,there was a report from hotham earlier that the weather station is currently not working.
It will be around -3 c at hotham now.
To quote Bill Barker from this morning's Hotham report:
"I think the BOM's weather station up top has blown up so disregard the wind and temperature readings that you see from it."
A few flakes at Mt Vic now
Windy and icey on some of the exposed runs at Buller this afternoon. Wind has dropped of a bit but pretty cold outside.
Most runs holding up ok but if you were out early this morning then you got the goods.
Buller spur the pick and wombat was good as well. Standard full of moguls as was mens down hill with lots of VW bettles on the run. Youredla was pretty good with OK cover but federation closed and needing a bit to get turning again. Wood run bowl ok on the skiers left but very average cover on the other side.
Summit a little icey and howqua skiing ok if you like it bumpy.
Not sure if we are going to see any snow tonight but he's hoping they can smooth out some of the more bumpy stuff by tommorrow.
All up a great day with lots of fun to be had early.
RMS, alpine road conditions Jenolan Caves Rd and Mt Lambie GWHwy.
2 degrees and sleeting here, the flakes have gone ATM
But nothing in the bucket.
last friday. got v wet
So I guess what, 0.8 of a mm after I posted? Pretty good result all up.
Nothing showing up on the Aws.
Cold tho , bet the guns are roaring.
If you look closely the Thredbo AWS has 3mm in the gauge. It hs snowed on and off most of the afternoon, lightly. up high. & all 172 snowguns going to get that depth to 180.
Temp up to 3C, steady fugly rain-sleet wintery mix here Mt Victoria.
