Grey ships = gravy train $100000 toilet role holders? Observing grey skys in Perisher right now after a nice looking morning
Hotham.. Morning very cold and windy, southerly meant for me blue ribbon was the go.. Late morning wind eased and became partly cloudy. Snow softened in sun and lower areas. DP now , on and off snow showers ATM. Glad the strong southerly is gone
Thredbo - Nice day overall, still some nice snow around, although nothing fresh. A couple of cm up top overnight which kept things going. A bit of misty drizzle later this afternoon. Less-trafficked areas were starting to crust up this afternoon. No sign of snowmaking yet, but hopefully later tonight. Need some snow.
I also observed a great day at Hotham with great runs in lower traffic areas. However, Blue Ribbon is a write-off, bottom of Heavenly getting very carved up early in the day, bottom of Mary's Slide jumping rocks and bushes. Will be a monumental traffic jam on the weekend unless Orchard is opened up.
Drizzle between Bruthen and Ensay on the drive to Omeo. Mild and pretty much dry in Omeo. Hoping for light winds tomorrow at Hotham.
Gentle snow from 7-10am at falls. Not a lot but quite pretty. Snow in pretty good condition in the morning but the wind was still really strong (Not quite as bad as past two days. Summit and Eagle chair were both operating at about half-speed. Cleared up and wind dropped which was nice. But lower slopes turning to massive slop by lunchtime. Best snow is over at Ruined.
Snowguns on at Perisher, few flakes last night not much. Going to be a beautiful day, my last for a couple of weeks.
Final observation as we leave today. Perisher bluebird day ahead and cold temps have maintained the good cover.
I observe that LM did not have the snow guns running last night, despite freezing temperatures. I suspect the explanation will be temperature inversion, which strangely rarely happened when Belgravia were running things up there. I suspect the real reason is more budget related (can't exceed budget expense estimates)
Up at Hotham today. Mixture of corn snow and hard packed. Easy enough to get an edge in. Top of extreme zone was good. Bottom no good, trees, creeks and rocks. Coverage pretty good all over heavenly. Hi cloud and not too windy.
