Seemed to be a very light dusting overnight in PV and vert light to moderately light snow still falling now
This morning was really nice at Hotham, good groomers but even off the snow was in good condition. Must ahve stayed cold overnight and had the moitsure sapped out a litte. Currently, getting some sleet/snow going on in showers.
Snowing at Perisher this morning, and again later this afternoon. In between it was sunshine with light cloud. Skiing really nicely today, much drier snow and more powdery than yesterday, with the moisture seeming to have dried out if it. Northerly runs got a little heavier this afternoon, but not at all slushy. Was a fantastic day to be up there. Hoping for more of the same the next few days, but seems to be line ball for snow or rain. But if it's rain, then I still have today. I will always have today. Gee it was fun.
I observe the cams look gorgeous this morning, well at 7:00 they do. Want to head back down just when can I squeeze it in?
^^ Nice to see SE Qld and Northern Rivers get some rain for once. They've been missing out on it lately. I also observe that the air-mass is really dry here today.
Cloud starting to build in Melbourne after a sunny / foggy morning. Looks like isolated showers building in the south.
In Adelaide foothills And it was sunny and quite warm in sun 10 min . Now black skies and steady hail !
Should not be problem the frontal inversion @700 is holding the cold parcel you will notice a sharp hpa drop when it goes over.
13.6C in Sydney and I reckon not even a duck would be happy with the 17mm of rain since 9am... Not a pleasant day by Sydney's recent spell. The positive is we now have swell!
they need to . However this indeed is good News and good for them for milking it for all its worth . Marketing is a complex beast and some snowmaking can have many benefits . it is a good look too isn't it when their major competitor seems to have packed up for the season and they have areas of high traffic that will fall into disrepair quite quickly Smigs won't take much to look terrible and probably close . Will be interesting to see how long " on demand " goes up on the lift status for areas that offer some of the best riding in the resort .these things are not lost on some people and I for one am weighing up where my family and associated friends spend will go next year
Thredbo's upper superpark cam at about 1500m has definite signs of flakeage on it so good signs of a reasonable snowline even if surface temps are currently pretty mild.
40ml of Rain and pressure steadily dropping here in Cenco. Pressure has dropped from 1010hpa to 1006hph over the last couple of hours. Temp has just cracked 14c
Perisher & Thredbo Obs suggest a turning point in the trough, now registering near freezing temps and Southerly winds. Looks like some light/mod showers pushing through SE-wards of Wagga.
Snow at Perisher (such as it was) petered out early this afternoon. Colder but also dry right now. Need that snow!
