Sago, then sleet, now snow in Jindy.
I observed snow on the Friday Flat cam and I'm about to get in the car to drive down from Sydney.
The latest from Smiggins
Those cold uppers doing their thing @Claude Cat ?
Friend in Jindy just sent me a vid of some pretty heavy snow falling. Settling nicely too...
Seems that way.
Heavy snow falling from Bullocks Flats all the way into Jindy.
Nice slow drive from the ski tube and no accidents.Lots of snow settling .
Backing a bit of now in Jindabyne but settling nicely on roofs and gardens
Snow has eased now but I'd estimate 3-4cm accumulation here at Smiggins.
I observe a cm or so settled on my front lawn. Lake level Jindy.
Baw Baw still racking up the mm in the AWS. 10.4mm since 9am this morning.
Observed some lightning driving over the southern highlands tonight (wollondilly, mittagong). No rain though.
24 hour snow totals.
Buller 3 cm.
Baw Baw 18cm.
Predictions on the mark
Perisher reporting 5 cm last 24 hours and 40cm over the last 7 days.
Dem 5cm-sized snowflakes.
If you read the Perisher thread, most of those mighty 5cm flakes occurred while people were travelling down off the hill.
Drove from Canberra this am. Overnight snow on the hills around Michelago and further south. Quite a bit going out of Cooma and Berridale. Very pleasant drive. Thredbo had a few cents. A bit dust on crustish in spots but fun nonetheless. No breeze atm. Bluebird.
When was the last time Perisher or Thredbo recorded an overnight/24 hour snowfall that was not in 5cm increments? It's a good thing Spencers Creek isnt measured like this to keep them honest.
I so missed your weather observations while you were away Verm, welcome back.
Just keeping everyone honest mate, not an easy job in the snow industry in Australia.
Actually several times for perisher in the last 10 days, 1cm, 3cm etc
In all seriousness Perisher seems to report 0-5cm in 1cm increments and anything above 5cm in 5cm increments. Works well for me, not really much difference between 21cm and 23cm as far as I'm concerned, but I do want to know difference between 1cm and 3cm..
EDIT : Oh by the way, never go to the USA if this kind of thing bugs you. The stupid resorts over there only ever report snowfalls in increments of 2.54mm. Very dishonest if you ask me
Snow showers on and off all day at Buller.
Thredbo village - too hot! Wow it's warm
Here all week so will report live the carnage as it happens
Hope to get a fewlong days before the rain
I observe perisher the snow is holding up really well generally speaking. Down low there's some holes etc though.
View of MR and Kosi
I feel like I've dreamt that scene...
Wind picked up a bit this arvo. It was quite brisk too.
Here's another ultra wide showing from nearly charlottes to guthega.
Perisher were reporting in 1cm increments for a while but have since returned to their old ways of reporting in 5cm increments. Very annoying but what can you do. Don't know why they need to be dishonest when they are the biggest resort in Australia
Nice and cold at Buller all day. Cloud cover wouldn't go away though
Hence the trapped 'nice and cold'
Today was blue and white and rather untracked at Mt Ramshead LBC .
It actually is just Mt Twynam, could give you a pick looking the other way this morning but it wouldn't compare. And yes all those slopes facing you were pretty nice
Ah so it is must of uploaded wrong pic, it's hard to see an a small phone, lol.
Still looks nice.
We're you at Twynam today?
Eye. All those slopes running east from Little Twynam (the ones with the horizontal bands of trees), hold beautiful snow and rarely get really tickled.
Foggy and windy up at Perisher this morning.
Couple of hundred metres higher
Perth only reached a max of 15.8C and is it any wonder why...
When will that make Vic resorts.
Big blobs in SA now
Circa 9-11pm Tuesday.
