Hectic morning in Sydney ....
The only morning traffic you'll come across will be floating face down in the harbour with money pouring out his pockets...

Skied Hotham over the weekend - snow holding most places pretty well but the temperature was rising rapidly on Sunday afternoon. The next 72hrs won't be helpful to the cover either

A lot of warm moist air showing up on the BOM radar coming from north of Port Hedland. This can't be good.
Been just below the Pondage in Mt Beauty today on the Kiewa River. The AGL crew said they are gonna open the gates up tonight and let a lot of water out...
I'm surprised they didn't do this a day or too ago (even though a minor flood watch is current for down stream) with this weather system coming in.
How is it on the snowfields this morning? Any precip yet?

Light rain here in eastern burbs melbourne, 13 degrees.
Only 1mm here so farin Nth Central Vic, and that all fell at 9am. Less than I was expecting to be honest, but band looks to be thickening North of the Murray River. It could be an interesting afternoon...

Yup. Just drove out to Ringwood and it rained the whole way. Roads be greasy.

High thin cloud and very still at Palm Beach. I observed clean 3' surf with a friend for an hour or so l just now. I also observe that I removed the ski racks from my Subaru last night so hopefully that will cause the expected r**n to turn to epic snow and force me to re-fit them.
It's taking it's time. Rain totals in the Vic Mallee are so far much less than forecast.
I was just thinking it was the kind of useless rain Melbourne is known for. Enough to be annoying, but that's about it.
Didn't stop between Ringwood and Brighton about 90 mins ago. Was just a nuisance though. Enough to make you wary on the road.

Clouds are all very high here too. It's almost as though there is a deficit of moisture at the surface level... so far. I'm thinking that'll change to our North East soon though.
Clear and sunny here in Thredbo. A tad warm but the snow is holding up quite well, especially high. Waiting for the clouds to roll in but nothing yet.
Radar is showing some explosive convection near Waikerie in SA. Could be a rough night....

A rain band ahead of an approaching low pressure trough will intensify over northeastern Victoria overnight.
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for the North East forecast district later tonight and early Wednesday morning. Rainfall totals of 20 to 50mm are expected over much of the district during this period, with some locally higher totals likely - particularly about the higher mountain ranges.
Locations which may be affected include Wodonga, Wangaratta, Corryong, Bright, Falls Creek and Mt Buller.
Flood Watch is in effect for North East Victoria (Upper Murray, Mitta Mitta, Kiewa, Ovens and King Catchments)
Big downpour currently on the drive home, Irymple South in NW Vic.
Usual low areas filling quickly, with some water over road alread occurring.

Fertilised my lawn in Canberra at around 6:30pm tonight in anticipation of the inbound rain and warm - ended up in a t-shirt.

I suspect there won't be much snow left at the bottom end of Friday Falts tomorrow morning at this rate
