Starting to come down at Buller
About 30-40 minutes of light snow flurries on Mt P from 9:15am.
Triple on Mt P just opened.
If this is the beginning it is going to be huge
Snowing lightly at Blue Cow - sun showers with flurries- always great when the first clouds in over a week delivery flakes & nothing clear.
Rolling in at Falls Ck. Some big soft flakes, some little icy pellets and some drops at Windy Corner.
Sun snow at dp
It was very snowy at Buller this morning when I was out skiing. Extremely strong winds with the Mercedes lift and Koflers T-Bar put on wind hold. Decided to come back to the lodge for hot chocolate and wine.
PV... started sunny and windy.
First few flakes around 9:30. Then it cleared.. Then snowed solid for 5 mins around 10:30.
Sunny since but cloud slowly building again.
Single constant has been the strong wind - with Triple Chair on Mt P on and off wind hold a few times.
Wind blown old snow building up on leeward slopes in some places.
Looked like this for 1st runs on Eyre before the crowd this morning....and just prior to the first few flakes....wind blown was already starting to sit on the groomer.
It looks like its going to be fairly serious about it too ,me likely the look of it
I observe that the the Old Man is complaining about aching joints this morning. Always a sure sign this time of year that it will snow a lot.
Some nice windblown to be found off the Leichhardt chair this morning.
White flakes puking down now with a strong sideways component at Falls.
Coming down nicely now! Falls
Accumulation starting to happen at Falls. And there's a mountain out there somewhere.
I'd take shelter, this is going to be a direct hit.
Leaving soon for Buller, will report obs through the storm.
Don't get caught out in Blizzard when that low develops explosively latter
Nice lenticular clouds over the southern end of the brindabellas
How long ya up there for? Starting to think of flying down
The precipitation seems to just be missing Buller, probably a good thing given the temp is marginal at the moment.
Coming down nicely at Hotham at the moment.
grass disappearing fast at DP @jungfrau very distracting watching the snow when im trying to work
If DP is getting all flakage, Buller wouldn't have too much issue with the N/NW'ly wind, IMO.
Anything above 1500m for Vic should be ok today.
Buller still in the negs anyway.
Yes sure is , getting whiter by the minute I observe
I hope you have some time off in the next few days
Settling at Dingo Dell 1400 A.S.L.
Just need the precip to go south by about 50 KM and everyone's happy
i have time off whenever i want
Till sun or mon
Stay on topic
A few flurries around Nth P
Snow getting heavier now, roads and everything covered now , accumulating quickly DP.
Time for a little
It's really kicking in now.
Thredbo getting some decent snow on the cams now even at Friday Flat meanwhile nearly 24 deg in Sydney
I observe that LM is waiting, waiting for snow. As you can see below:
Let's try again:
Oops! Crossed skis!
Fark*n hell, absolutely pumping down at the Hot ham and cheese sandwich.
Yes, I bolted straight after posting that pic. Well, a slow 2nd gear cruise down as far as Howman's Gap where the precipitation turned unambiguously wet. It was snow down to about halfway to Howman's, with snow or slush on the road. Then the road was mostly wet down to Howman's, with the occasional slushy corner to keep one on one's toes. It had snowed down to Howman's earlier though, going by the accumulation on the cars parked there.
Snowing steadily on the Thredbo cams and looks like snow is starting to accumulate on the trees above the village.
Here in Canberra it's still a blue sky day with some high clouds moving very fast from west to east. The trees are starting to move in the wind and the view from the western side of my office building shows the Brindabellas are starting to be covered in thick cloud.
Has not stopped
Horrible in Brisbane. Its raining and temperature is the wrong side of marginal so no powder here
The ol black n white trick
