Spring in Sydney today, about a week earlier than normal
Windy, but warm in Melbourne. Ditched the longs for the ride in today, first time in while.
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in the Central, South West, North Central and parts of the East Gippsland, North East, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera Forecast Districts.
Issued at 10:56 am Tuesday, 9 August 2016.
Strong northerly winds are expected on Tuesday ahead of a cold front which will enter western Victoria during the afternoon and cross the State overnight.
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 to 100 km/h are forecast on Tuesday over parts of the Wimmera, Southwest, Central and North Central districts. Elevated areas are most at risk. The risk of damaging winds is expected to contract to Alpine areas of West and South Gippsland, East Gippsland and the Northeast district during Tuesday evening with peak gusts reaching 110 km/h.
Locations most at risk include Hamilton, Colac, Kyneton, Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, Mansfield, Corryong and all Alpine resorts.
Strongest gusts 104km/h @ Mt William, 89km/h @ Melbourne Airport

Good to see temps dropping across NSW before the moisture! Maybe all snow..
Top of mount P was crunching up ~4pm this arvo. Temps below 0 (-.6) on lodge thermo at North Perisher. Still some clear spots in the sky as the sun sets. No moisture observed yet.

I'm at Mushroom Rocks near BawBaw at the moment. Wind is only mild here, but expect it to pick up. Not overly cold but at least we have an awesome campsite to bunker down in.

Hrrm, seems odd to me. Perisher AWS was 3.6C at that time. That's 4 degrees difference between the Valley AWS and your lodge. I am guess your lodge sits in a nice little frost hollow.
Nah Mt-P obs here have been -0.1 since 5:30
That's nearly 200m vertical difference between the valley (where lodges are) though.

Temp drops and moisture goes.. Lower areas damaged by rain, lots of areas closed for this time off year, I observe IMO
