Well after 10 weeks of ski fit gym sessions, 5 months of dieting and exercise dropping 17Kgs, a walk up Bartle Frere, completion of the Festive500 and numerous planning sessions over bottles of red wine with @Kletterer we’re finally ready to go. The Douchebag is packed with skis, avi gear, clothes and other gear for the bus trip to the airport.

So exciting. I’ll be following your report and living vicariously though your adventures.

I was in that part of the world Jan / Feb last year and it was lovely but sure it will be even better with more snow :)

shouldn’t the ‘gear for the bus trip to the airport’ be on you rather than in the bag?

Arrived without any dramas. Quick shower and straight up the hills for the arvo. Rather warm and soft down low. Shattberg West- Sprinter area did however have a good surface. Quiet on the hills today. A few full depth wet slides visible around.

Yep, after a very long haul to Saalbach via Sydney, Hong Kong, Munich and Salzburg we decided to knock some kinks off the legs and go for an afternoon ski.

Saalbach uses the skiline app, here's the profile of what we skied.

    The view from above

For a late lunch we stopped off at Simal Alm.

The Paulaner Welzen went down very nicely with the Hausgemachte Gulaschsuppe mit Brot

Skiline is a great app, now you've registered and entered your pass number you are done and it will track you for the rest of the trip. The only downside is that you might find yourself pushing to ski an extra run or two to get your VM avg up.

Weizen is very good also.

I love the Skicircus! Wrecked legs by the end of the day though. We were here last year too.
    How is the snow?

    Almradler is another good companion.

Looks good fellas. Shaping up to be a big month! Look forward to the pics and updates.

I arrive Fri. Staying in Hinterglemm. Can't remember name of hotel. Ping me your whatsapp numbers via PM. Its prob gonna be quite a hectic few days. My neighbour from Berlin is currently surfing Fuerta Ventura, flying to Frankfurt and then driving to Saalbach for the weekend to meet me. Also meeting an old school mate from Aus who's coming with his wife and 2 kids so it might be tricky to coordinate everything. Day 1 I'll be testing the knee anyway. Who knows what will happen?!

PM me so I can be in contact! And keep the pics and reports coming! :emoji_beers:

Another day skiing here in Saalbach - Hinterglemm

The boys were all out today warming up for the European Cup.

We took a more sedate path to the bottom, steadily racking up a few quiet VMs during the day

And we saw a little bit more of the resort.

Lunch was at Asitz Brau with some Franzishaner Weissbier

We also saw some lovely fat flakes which improved the playing surface over lunch.

After a great day out it was time to head into town for a few quiet ales.

We finished the day with a sauna and some more bier :)

    Dinner soon.

No rain damage. just a little heavy down lower. Temps set to drop for quite a while. Noticeably less people also helps. Wax em up mate.

Uggg... the virus has struck back. Just walked @Kletterer down to the doctors to get some antibiotics. I'm taking advantage of the downtime to window shop, pick up batteries for the beacon, get some more Euros (the card works :) ) and look at goggles.

Got to keep one eye out on whats coming

    Some pictures from today.

Saalbach - Hinterglemm is a very pretty place.

This is where we are staying. Fully setup to handle the skiing tourist.

Some like their produce fresh :)

The cover is really good, but no off-piste skiing will be possible until we get some fresh snow. Don't fail me GFS !

After an inadvertent close up inspection of some rock hard snow in bad vis, first time I've whacked my helmet on the deck, I thought it was well past time to upgrade the goggles. A new pair of Smith IOs. Yes I paid resort prices, no don't ask me what they cost.

Well that sucks! Hope you guys clear the virus and get back on the slopes soon, hopefully you get some snow soon as well.

FYI I don’t think the beers help with flu, just something I’ve observed over the years.

Antibiotics have gradualy dealt with what was a very painful lung infection etc. Will take things easy this morning. Note from doctor gets a refund for lost ski days at the ticket office. DSNS has gone out to attempt the ski circuit challenge. Its a long day.
