Dunno, but I don't think I'd want to risk hail damage to the car!!

The good car is interstate, and this one lives outside anyway.

    Expecting more choas tonight...

The cars at the longterm airport car park might be a bit of a sad case after this hits!

Not long now. Starting to rumble in Canterbury.
Looks like western burbs getting hammered.

Seems to be totally avoiding the Acheron Valley. Storms either side of it, though. Just light rain here.

Steady rain in Canterbury. Most of the action to the west, but the worst is yet to come.

Was on a camp on the Mornington Peninsula over the weekend. Nothing interesting happened at all, really. Report from my home in the Latrobe Valley: Absolutely bucketed down last night. 30mm in half an hour, Morwell apparently got 60!!!

Raining steadily here in Clayton. Might go up to the balcony in a second and have a look around. Although looking at that storm warning for Melbourne, I could get pelted... [IMG]

rumblings in Aireys Inlet / Fairhaven and light rain - think we might even get a bit of action down here tonight.

The beemer at home in MEL is probably farked anyway so another good one tonight doesn't make much difference. I wonder if they could write a car off due to hail damage........

    Just went up a gear.....

ltb - yes hail damage can definitely write off a car but it's more the grapefruit size variety.

No hail as of yet, but very heavy rain for the last 30 minutes. Radar shows it continuing for a while yet.

hmmm - we shall see - the damage I've heard to anything left outside in our area is not good

I'd love to trade into a 911 [IMG]

If you are stressed about hail damage and have a car outside.
    3 lg blankets.
One over the roof and windows.
    One over the bonnet.
    Same for the boot.
When the blankets get wet the weight should keep them down.

Yep, Beemer is on its own.

If it continues as it has so far probably just end up with a well soaked garden which is a plus.

It is going to be an interesting night for you guys in Vic. Still plenty to come and should continue for a few days. Hopefully a bit in the catchments to offset the bad side of these storms.
Very interesting weather over the last few months. A change of fortunes for many farmers.

in shepparton guys... simply a disaster zone. the parents came down to see me here at moomba. got stopped at nagambie on the way home told not to go any further.. we have several poles down in our street. cars crushed, lost roofs, several trees across road, you name it..... im heading home early. my uncle in central shepparton ended up with his neighbors 2 car garage in his pool.. came straight through the fence. its contents all in his yard. this is by far the worst storm in my 23 years in shepparton.

Even heard reports of 30cm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of hail not far north of shep.. cant confirm though..

Only real flood threat around wagga was a small village about 10km east of town. But all the creeks and drains were full yesterday, the bidgee is cracking along this morning, but only 20000ML/day which is nothing compared to the 300000ML/day coming out of the balonne river in southern queensland.

The local sailling / boating lake is about 75% full this morning from being all but empty on saturday.

Another set rolling through now. A couple of streets flooded here now, so much water lying around. The wind is also picking up, which wil be more of an issue today.

South East Queensland's 3 major dam average is 94.6% which is awesome. Last time I went out near Wivenhoe it was pretty much empty, look forward to going camping out there soon.

Yes the 3 major dams for greater Brisbane area have jumped over 20% in the past couple of weeks. Going to take a drive to Wivenhoe and Somerset dams this weekend so I will take some pics. Last time I went to the dams was in Jan 2008, I am expecting them to look MUCH better this time!!

Get your rod out too, the fish will be going crazy as the water rises over grass/scrub.

I got home today at lunch time with power coming back on mid arvo... If you saw any news footage of Shepparton, you most likely saw my street and possibly my house. We had all the major news channels here for a while apparently. Asking my cousins and mum to chop that bit, clean up over here 'cause it looks better' [IMG] .. wanchors...
Seriously INSANE to turn down the street and see pile after pile of trees on the side of the road. Pretty much 50% of the trees have lost a major limb, torn in half or completely uprooted. Many were simply snapped clean off half way up the trunk. Basically each property had a pile of trees on the nature strip. Just got a heap of photos off the neighbors. might upload a few if i get a chance.
One guy up the road had got most of a large gum in his living room...

The last few days in Sydney have had a real feeling of change about them. Cooler, lots of gusty winds, cloud. I can feel winter in my waters!

So no doubt it will be hot for the next few weeks now.

It's the winter teaser, but at least it is one step closer to winter. I am sure there is some more warmer weather on the way, but hopefully only a little bit [IMG]

Been a little cooler around here in Brissy as well, max of 26 forecast for Sunday with a min of 19 and showers. [IMG] A lot cooler than the humid 33/34max and 27C at 8.30pm we have had!!

Mother of all bonfires... few of our immediate residents discussed having a large public bonfire to gain some local publicity. Our street has had a decade plus battle with the local council to maintain the trees (we cant touch them and they refuse to maintain them to a safe standard). We even got lawyers involved at one stage.

I was just bumming around and noticed compared to 2009 ive received 5 times as much rainfall here (SE Subs Melbourne). That is significant, i didnt think the rainfall difference had been that much.

Didn't make it to the dams today [IMG] Cooler here today in Brissy and it makes sleeping in more pleasant. Hoping to go to the dams tomorrow, as long as the hangover isn't too bad.

BOM forecasting isolated shows beginning on Thursday through to Sunday for Melbourne.
Both GFS and EC show light showers Friday/Saturday, but I don't see much in it.
Possibly the chance of a storm towards the end of the week, but we'll see in a couple of days.
