Got to get out of Vicco bro.
Have surfed that novelty little right in twofold running straight into the river, it was only knee high and the fishing was better.
Oh well, ill be surfing in the Telos on Tuesday arvo, and it's going to be pumping to various degrees for the whole trip
Don't worry, its cold and wet here.
I wonder if Pinks will be working, tends to like more of a big S to SE swell than NE swell. Also Leonards Island north of Eden could be on.
Could be the biggest Supers session to be documented/filmed ever about to go down!
There really aren't that many places that are going to handle REALLY big stuff apart from reefs and points that have a deep water channel you can get out through, or a JetSki assist
Monday & Tuesday are looking ridiculous on MSW (f you've got the paddling fitness to handle it)
Great little sesh this arv with D15 and old mate at North End.
Hate them crowds
The gurl had a ball , we both gave her half our waves.
Get as much a buzz or better watching her than jagging them my own.
Not as wild up here (Sunshine Coast) as predicted. Moderate, sometimes heavy rain over the last 4 or so hours. Wind nowhere near as strong as predicted - yet. Very messy 6ft sets on the open beaches this morning. Looks like it's beginning to set up off Frazer Island on the charts. Wind may increase in the next few hours.
Paddled out at Barrenjoey (North Palm Beach) with one of the other regulars about 7am this morning. Wasn't too windy up there - the headland helps with a NE wind - but the swell was pretty lumpy - around 4' on the sets when we hit the water. Got bigger fairly rapidly during our session and we both retreated to the beach after less than an hour after a couple of successive bigger sets (6'+ and crumbly/lumpy) worked us over.
Worth getting wet when we did it early this morning but I think the options for Sydney, outside of novelty waves, are now probably a bit limited for the next day or two because it is very definitely picking up, and in a messy way.
I will likely go down for a look tomorrow morning (and likely as not with a board in the car) but I'm not expecting to paddle out. Chap I surfed with this morning is thinking of an excursion to Umina (inside Broken Bay) tomorrow.
Hammerheads could be on Monday/Tuesday. Only goes right off once or twice a year.
Winds are getting up to 30 to 40 knots NE around Cronulla at the moment.Sailboarders and Kite sailors are the only people having fun at the moment.Swell has already increased up to 6ft in the southern corners. Its going to be interesting how big the swell will get out of this system.
Wrong swell direction for Hammerheads.
I'm more scared of the great whites TBH
If the chap is thinking the long left - wrong swell. Needs big SE with Nth winds (bit like Butterbox). A great old surfing mate of mine lives at Wagstaff and rides his ski out with board in tow. Happy to have done it with him a few times over the years.
Primo territory for those puppies too !
Could be a couple of novelty waves coming to life in and around the Port Stephens area inside Shoal Bay and also the mysterious One Mile point (once the wind swings offshore)
MSW has upgraded wave heights for tomorrow - wowsers:
24 feet @ 12 seconds!!
It is about 2x overhead at North Palm Beach. Really REALLY windy, torrential rain, just a lot of water moving around.
Photo probably doesn't do justice to just how nasty it is but here is something anyway...
Wonder if Neilsen Park is working?
Couple of remarkable novelty spots inside Pittwater (not working yet but maybe later)...
The swell will certainly be getting in but it would be a dead onshore, choppy mess. Maybe later IF the wind swings offshore but they are now saying it won't be until tonight.....
Just saw in Facebook feed that they are planning on running Red Bull Cape Fear either Monday or Tuesday, it's going to be SOLID!!!
The storm surge tonight at say 10:00 is going to be massive. King tide too.
A major beach erosion event, thats for sure
Yep. Lucky Collaroy to Narrabeen stretch has had a long period to build up the sand on the strip, but it will be all gone within a matter of days....
Palm Beach in process of disappearing (and YES that is someone in the water (sigh)):
Has the council been nourishing the beach.
Far south coast starting to pick up. Very windy. about 10 to 15 ft of wash. Still building as we move into the major swell window.
Thats a great reference, I expect tonight storm surge will go much higher. Slow build up of wave setup looks to have supplied sand to the beach as storm surge has risen.
NE fetch is getting right in to those usually protected corners
Yeah for a few years now. Trying to protect all of the multi million dollar houses and apartments that were stupidly built far too close to the water.....
East coast Tassie is where most damage Will be. By a long shot
Will be interesting to see how it holds up. Liberal Party will be watching that for sure.
Beach nourishment is better than building rocks walls. But see what happens. Low has just past Port Mcquarie
Another photo from around 8am this morning down at Kiddies' Corner, taken by a friend I regularly surf with. She also couldn't help herself and had to come down and check out the conditions too.
As bad as this erosion is so far, its a fairly common occurrence.
That looks like storms surge outgoing tide. note clean water
Been a great day on the Sunshine Coast. Pumping, perfect conditions.
My young bloke got into a few.
This is one of his from this morning.
National Park ?
No, beachies..........was going offffff.
.........................and at a island.
Sunshine and it was a left, and right????
Major Swell carange. Great fetch South of new caledonia.
ASCAT real time wind. Its gonna be so So big Monday Tuesday...
Heard lennox was big and holding today
Liked.. then unliked as there will be much carnage NE tassie coast
Think I've sat under those Pandanus watching similiar view albiet bit smaller.
Has a campground back of the beach and legendary pub bit further down the line.
Bawley kids and many others are all bummed.
End of an era.
The much loved Gantry has been destroyed.
RIP old girl.
