Following on from the Falls Creek and Hotham threads, do your worst or best!
Bouquets to the snowmaking crew for making what seems to be a hell of a lot more snow than in previous years. I guess conditions have been a lot more suitable this year, but for Baw Baw to have 30cm of man-made snow on top of natural cover during many parts of the year is remarkable IMO.
Still no vision on cams. Cost cutting or perhaps no-one gives a damn?
Nothin' to see!
(and too early to worry)
Thanks, Charlie, but having skied at bb in May before, I start to get a bit of pre-season excitement around this time. Fingers crossed for something soon.
Baw Baw cams still out of action. Snow is coming this week. Let's hope resorts staff get the cams working soon. The best advertising the resort can get!
Still nothing. I would certainly consider booking some accommodation during the next week if there was some visual indication that it was worthwhile. It's June next week = winter.
Have patience the ground needs to cool.....
Ok, I'm hanging out, but you're saying: "Chill out!" Wanna see something on those cams.
It's only May and my BIL reckons the winters are getting later every year. He lives in the country so reckons he knows about these things!
Already have snow pictures on FB for BB but no cams, great customer service! Looking forward to trying out those skis of yours @chriscross,probably have a lesson or two first to get the technique right then off for a romp on the plateau b/w Gwinear and Baw Baw,just need the snow.
Snow today at BB (from their FB page), more predicted tomorrow, woohoo!
...Hey! Nice snowy scene from Bawbs.
Can someone please wake up the BB staff and tell them winters here & they'll miss it if the don't get moving!
...(Cueing snow cams).
Might even wax the XC planks if this weather keeps up!!
Anyone been up today? Please report. That photo is from yesterday.
You wouldn't want to see today's
Suspect it was the liquid stuff but the cams would really help.
Genuine problem with the cams, apparently maintenance was neglected by management over last 2 seasons
I worry about what bigger stuff has been neglected given this fact. I mean how many $ does it take to service 5 cams over a 9 month summer?
The cams are one of the best marketing tools of the resorts - once there is snow. If one neglects cams and you effectively indicate that the resort is shut for business - despite any glossy brochures delivered over summer.
Even just one cam working, in the "village" or the bowl will give us some idea of conditions up there. Thanks, Charlie, glad I did not bother yesterday.
I don't get that.
I have 2 snows cams and never service them.
Failure of some electronics happens but not much you can do about it.
Swap the part and its back up for years.
Cant see how 5 cams could die.
I believe it is not the cams themselves, but other 'stuff'
Other 'stuff', is that code for 'lack of money'?
Nah I T 'stuff'
Cams are back up and running.
Thanks - good to see. And about time.
