Great weekend on the hill with lots of people busy working away on their lodges through out the village. At least 5 clubs having working bees over the weekend, along with the BLC gooming bee, had the village street almost blocked at times with cars going left, right and centre.

Lets hope the enthusiasm continues and we have a bumper season. Looking forward to catching up with lots of faces, new and old (already known) over the coming weekends before the snow arrives.

I was thinking of going for a drive latter today. Is it worth heading up there or has all the snow melted away?

Bass will open at 9 am tomorrow (Saturday) and Village will come on line soon after.
Whilst there is a cover all over it is far from good and at best is marginal.
Bills needs another 5 cm to make it worth opening and fannies similar. Did not venture to giblin so cant coment Summit may be possible to tower 4 but we will have to have alook later in the morning Bass, Village and Summit are strung and were run round today so all good for tomorrow.
Temps should fall to a level tonight that will hopefully allow marginal snow making tonight but that looks like it for 5 days or so.

    Hi All
well quite a few happy campers out there today on some really ordinary snow.
Unfortunately it did notget cold enougth lastnight to make snow and hence firm up the base as such, hence lots of wear on the tracks today and with a min of +2 forcast for tonight AE have reluctantly pulled the pin for tomorrow until more snow falls hopefully later in the week.

    Cheers

Limited skiing mountain wide, small natural features can be found for playing on but be prepared to walk. If you choose to walk around the mountain please do not walk on the lift lines (and if you see others ask them not to) as this destroys the snow and will make it more difficult to open lifts when we do get a bit more snow

High winds with 5+ cms (a total of over 12 cms in the last 60 hours) of wet snoty snow followed by temps down below -6 = a much improved cover but extremely icey!!!. AE will today commence de-icing all lifts as winds abate, followed by a review of the lift lines and runs. It is anticipated that Lifts will open during the week, hopefully starting tomorrow with Bass and village (wind and weather dependant).

    Hi All
Bass and Village should be rolling from about 9.30 this morning
Work will continue on de-iceing and re-instating the other lifts and either tomorrow or even later today another lift or two may come on line.

    Hi Guys and Girls
After an assesment of the current conditions and a review of the forcast all lifts have regrettably been placed on wind hold for today.
Whilst it is not fit outside for man or beast be assured this decision has not been taken lightly.

Thanks BD that's great to hear! Do you think Fannies will be up and running also?

Looks like this could be the best weekend on the mountain, however things could improve further as conditions are tending to stay cold for the next week again.

Weather should be sensational this weekend.

See everyone at the Bellendena Bash Saturday night! Still space available if you haven't booked in. email bellendena@gmail.com to confirm your attendance.

Does anyone know what the current conditions are like on Ben Lomond? The cameras shots haven't updated for a few days.
Where is the best place to look nowadays for an up to date report?
Is it worth driving up from Hobart for a ski?

Find the Ben Lomond Snowsports, Ben Lomond Creek Inn and or Ben Lomond Terrain Park pages/groups on Facebook. This seems to be a more effective method of getting the word out there than ski.com.au these days.

Contractors will attempt to stabilise this tomorrow (weather permitting)
Updates will be placed here regarding the situation and expected re-opening as they come to hand.

    Hi All,
An unstable boulder on Jacobs Ladder at "Gateway" has forced the temporary closure of the road at the bottom Car Park As of last night contractors have stabilised the boulder allowing the road to be reopened. It has been indicated by Parks that the road will be closed during hours of darkness until further notice and special conditions will be in place at other times.
Please obey all Signs and Instructions

Great snow conditions up there today. Lots of dry snow had blown into the ski area and the sun even came out for the arvo.

Not sure why, but only summit and bass were running for a lot of the afternoon session. It was pretty windy.

Bills ran from aprox 2pm, Village was munted as a result of a poma snag which bent the return station crosshead at 90 degrees and had to be dismantled to be sent to Launie to be pressed or re manufactured. This is one of the risks of operating in strong winds, (at times in excess of 40 knots) Eryl could have easily pulled the pin and put all lifts on wind hold, but thanks to a good team of staff that I am fortunate to work with we were able to soldier on and keep some lifts rolling all day to avoid dissapointing many happy customers. In fact in 15 years it was only the second time I have baulked at climbing a tower due to wind. As Lastrun said it was pretty windy, try being 8 metres up an Ice encased tower in those winds?

As for tomorrow we intend to run Bass, Summit and may be Fannies or Bills(depending on wind strength and dirrection) with Village back on Line around Lunch Time once parts are returned from Launie

Alpine Enterprises have again regrettably placed all lifts on wind hold due to the extreme forcast conditions. .It is anticipated to run 4 lifts tomorrow (Saturday) when the strong winds should moderate.

    Hi All,

Looks like that's all she wrote folks. Thank to everyone that helped out this year! Its been another to remember. There is still plenty of snow for the folks who are keen to walk or get on their cross country skis and some great drifts around for tobogganing!

Looking to next season there will be a call out in the coming weeks for those who might be available to help with the summer grooming program. Many hands make light work! With the great ability to improve the slopes because of the Ski Slope Plan its given us a new ability to make a difference to the slopes!

Thanks to everyone who has got up to the mountain and supported the businesses this year! Hopefully a bit more fun next year.
