    Hi All
After close to a 100 mls of rain the hill received a fall of nearly 10 cms of snow today, the base has stood up to the rain, as it was hovering just above zero for the duration. Now the extreme winds have dropped the team will be back in action tomorrow and AE are planning to operate up to 4 lifts tomorrow.
Not sure if the road is to be cleared, so if you are heading up, make sure you take your chains.

Hobo get a grip it was 60knots on top of mountain we ran Summit in the morning till it derailed off bullwheel due to wind. As for Bills the T's were spinning out of Spring Boxes so the result would have been the same if we had of run it. There were 7 staff employed to fix the derail on Summit run the lifts and keep snow on the tracks of the lifts running all the time putting up with atrocious conditions. Maybe if you understood what it takes for the mountain to run and continue to run you would understand that full ticket price is necessary. And then only then would you be in a position to post comments such as yours. [IMG]

Bahahaha the forums are teeming with first timers this season for some reason!

Temps look a bit warm this weekend, should soften things up a bit but hopefully not too much!

Hopefully the only thing that will soften will be the ardour of our fellow posters. An old greivance dragged up and thrashed around again.
On a lighter note 4 lifts planned for tomorrow, but it will still be windy so be prepared.

I think it may have snowed a little last night up high but probably a little gobbler also as it did warm up last night.. Cold up there this morning which will keep it on the hill

good day up on the hill today.
Was nice to have first turns of 2011 in June! Didn't take any pics for some reason but the cover is good. Bit of fresh last night but yes BLIM you're right, bit of gobbler and freeze left for an icey start but some nice soft patches could be found.
AE did a good job - keep it up guys. Can't wait to see the groomer and snow gun firing up!! [IMG]

Hey Guys, as the updates where getting slim, and resort updates have been minimal, thought I'd just do it myself after driving all the way there to realise it was horrible, here's some photos.

How can that be? The "its snowing" call was made at lunchtime yesterday, and it absolutely bucketed down after that at Launceston AP. The CSIRO weather station didnt get above -1 during that time too.

    Fickle mountain!

Turned too westerly now by the looks for any major dumpage on the Ben, get the snow gun cranking asap. Hope the wind doesn't blow it all away but.

    MOD NOTE

Please lets try to keep this to snow/conditions reports.

Discussions about mountain operations can happen in the new "Cost versus Experience" thread and all the 'social' things can occur in the Ben Lomond Bliss thread.

Weather prediction also has a thread of its own

    Here Here,

Conditions still quite fowl on the hill, it would blow the milk out of your coffee, so we will have to wait and see what we have left after it moderates. This will most likely not be until saturday at the earliest with winds around 50 knots expected friday.

It was said in the bliss thread that the weekend weather will be horrid, and that Errol won't be running any lifts this w/e but will endeavor to run up to 6 next week. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if we got any more snow yesterday at some point? There looked to be some likely clouds around, and the CSIRO weather station shows some precipitation fell. Would be nice for another little top up [IMG]

I rang up today, even though launie is realtively calm, its blowing its ass off up at BL. de-icing needs to occur before things can get moving. Wednesday operation is a best case scenario (as far as i am aware!)

All lifts have heavy icing issues and due to the gale force winds we were unable to attempt any de-icing over the weekend. The BOM informed us last night that winds would be down to 10-15 knots today, but would rise again tomorrow to 45-50 knots. Snow is also in the pipeline for wed-thurs.
The front lifts have been de-iced today, and there is a possibility of 1-2 lifts tomorrow, but with the weather forecast It's more likely to be Wednesday. As always check the radio or call ahead.

I can confirm DM that we also have Bills ready to roll, the wind today was still up around 20-25 knots maybe bit more but we managed to get 4 lifts de-iced. With the forcast as you said only 1-2 tomorrow but when winds moderate will be ready to roll 4.
